Shadow of the Colossus looks incredible- beautiful art and soundtrack, too.

I just finished up with Doom 3 and X-Men Legends II (both undoubtedly but nothing amazing), and now I'm knee-deep in Darkwatch. On PC, I'm freaking myself out again with Silent Hill 3, the one game in the series I never finished...maybe this time?

Coming up: Call of Cthulhu and Fatal Frame 3. This is the best time of the year for games, there just ain't enough hours in the day to play all the ones that look cool. I'm even more envious of DS owners than usual...and the 360 is just around the corner...

Diablo 2, or rather the expansion Lord of Destruction. Jean preferably plays an amazon, her sister an assassin, and I a sorceress. The 1.11 patch brought a few new changes, but most important was the 1.10 patch, which really changed the game due to the synergetic effects and made the game a lot more interesting than it already was.

And I really like this holiday wallpaper from blizzard, with the sorceress under the mistletoe going "yuk" and a worried looking amazon, fearing she is next.

I'm mainly playing Counter-Strike:Source these days. But currently I'm also enjoying Rag Doll Kung Fu ... a hilarious game, suitable for any person with a bit o f humour.

I'm looking forward to the release of Elder Scrolls: Oblivion ... I really enjoyed Morrowind.

I'm actually trying to overcome the creepy atmosphere of System Shock 2...I didn't believe all the things everybody said about it, but it's true, it's absolutely the SCARIEST game I've ever played, way worse than Resident Evil/Silent Hill kind of games. I just find myself TREMBILNG while I'm playing!!!! And I've seen all kind of fps's!!! And it's the first time!!! Does anybody know/play/like it?

I really like X-Men Legends 2,which I just got finished playing not too long ago.I liked the approach for that game and the first game,it reminded me of Gauntlet:Legends.

Darkwatch was really cool, what do you think of it?

Brilliant RPG with a nice story, but the battle system is hit and miss.

And this is simply one of the best games ever made.

I'm usually into console RPGs.  I love the Final Fantasy series.  The last game i bought was probably Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.  Yeah, it has been awhile since i've bought video games.

Just asking because I was seriously thinking of buying that game this weekend.

It not that it is bad, it is actually a very good system. I'm just more inclined to the turn-based systems.

It's not that I didn't like, it didn't match my expectations... Spider-Man - The Movie is one of my favorites on the PS2, and I was expecting something even better. But it's not as good as the movie one, but it's a good game. So I'll try to play on the GBA, because I'm not expecting anything but a good action game.

Haven't you played Spider-Man2?That game blows the first Spider-Man game away.It is open ended and free roaming and you have the whole city of New York to play in,ala Grand Theft Auto.Besides the story missions there are a ton of side missions and secrets to find. The detail is amazing. The first game was very linear and you couldn't even go down onto the street.

It's much easier to buy a new $400 console ever 4 or 5 years than it is to update my puter every 6 months because a new game (like Half life 2 or F.E.A.R.) comes out.

X360 comes out in a month!!!

I would like to, but unfortunatly as of now I only have $800 of my desired $1300 to $1500 to buy my guitar rig. I can't decide if I want just a guitar, effects processor and an amp, or a guitar, effects processor, head and a cabinet. The latter way will be a bit more expensive. But if I can't get the XBOX360 at launch, I'll get it by Christmastime for sure.

Besides, I don'y think Oblivion will make launch, and PD ZERO is going to be a letdown I think, so It might be better to wait anyway.

I'm also a big Blizzard-fan... Warcraft 3, Starcraft, Diablo 2... love these games 2!

I'm the same way- I thought my console days were over after the SNES, I was determined to only play on PC...and then my wife got me an Xbox. It's just so much more comfortable & convenient to play from the sofa!

Though I still maintain my PC gaming, off and on. There's some PC-only games (stuff like RTS and MMORPGs, mostly) and some games that just do more on PC (lots of Morrowind mods, and I love state of the art graphics...I'm just foolish enough to have a copy of Morrowind & Doom 3 for PC and Xbox ). My 2-year old Radeon 9800 still has plenty of life left in it...I can play Doom 3 on full res with no problem.

BTW progtologist: So far, I like Darkwatch a lot. The only thing is that I've heard that it's kinda short.

Other games I play: Football Manager 2005 and Rome: Total War.

You're right, but I learned my lesson with the current-gen consoles. I'm not going to stick to oly one or two systems, because excellent games will come out exclusively for one console (like MGS4 for PS3 and Oblivion and Halo 3 for the X360) and I'll be pissed if I don't get to play them. So, I'm getting the XBOX360, the PS3 and the Revolution.

I'm an elite gamer myself, so I have this list I want to post:

First, I started gaming on the C64, with classics like Wizball, Boulderdash, Flimbo's Quest and all kinds of tekst adventures. Being the little twirp that I was, i didn't get pretty far with those, but I did like the athmosphere those games created.

Next, we got a nintendo 8 bit. I had about 15 cartridges for that in the end, and I was an absolute master at all the MegaMan games. I still love those, and am thankful that I could download a SNES emulator for the even better MegaMan X! I also played some old fashioned Castlevania(didnt get far), Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles 2, BattleToads (great humor), Shadowgate (love it!!), Swords n' Serpents in FRENCH(I had to ask my dad what the npc's were saying, really confusing), Gargoyle's Quest II, Battle of Olympos, Mario I, II&III, Jungle Book and the most fun I had was with Wizards&Warriors III.

Then I moved on to more conventional ground, on the first Pentium pc's. I started off asking my brother once a week if I could play on his, he was the only one to have one. I played Duke Nukem 3D at first, enamoured with the athmosphere the game had to me then. Unfortunately that was only a shareware version, but I liked that one a lot.

When finally my father bought a pc, it all started. I got into Starcraft(still the best RTS ever), Doom II, and all kinds of DOS games. My brother bought Baldur's Gate, but we didnt get to playing(or even understanding) it until a year after. Then, I realized how much that was the game I had been searching for my entire life! It was simply awesome. Creating your own character, walking around with having your 'father' killed. Figuring out what to do. Exploring the vast richness of the world that was the Sword Coast and when we finally got to Baldur's Gate itself...WOW. That was an awesome experience! Also in between i played a bit of the Daggerfall demo, which wanted me to play more, because Daggerfall is simply my favourite ever. But more on that later, because i didn't get to play it yet.

This lasted for quite a while as my father didnt have enough money to upgrade our pc. So I had to play classics for a long while, while watching my friends playing these really cool games. Finally, my dad had this workoffer deal, and we got ourselves a nice pentium III. Coincedentally, that's when Baldur's Gate II got out. So I went out the first day and bought it. I installed it right away and boy... I was blown away. This game was even BETTER than the first! Dual wielding, more levels, more loot, a just as nice world, but more exotic places. A really really nice story, rivaling the first. And that's when my BGII period started. I played this game 20+ times with different characters, trying all kinds of things out, including all-elf party's, soloing with the dreaded kensai-mage and walking around slaying everything with the über powerful berserker/cleric. It took me 3.5 years to get bored with this game. But now i haven't played it really for a year or so, simply because I know everything that's going to happen.

So then i went searching for other games. And I got into a group of NeverwinterNights online players. We made the BG world in the NWN engine, and went playing with a group of about 10 people. It was quite fun, but i wasn't a good roleplayer by that time, so I didnt have as much fun with it as I could have. In the meantime, I found Daggerfall!! So that got me hooked. The immense size of the world you could freely roam in. The openendedness of everything, the intruige, the lore, the guilds, the random quests and dungeons... All of it is what i want in a game. And if I had a pc with DOS available, i would still play this game. (DF is a bit too graphics heavy to be playable with DOSbox, which uses your CPU as a VGA emulator, costing a BIG amount of resources)

Daggerfall got me craving for more Elder Scrolls, and what did you know, Morrowind was available. So I got that one. When I started it, and got out of the boat, I was awestruck, just like everyone else. Those buildings were so beautiful! That water was amazing! And all those people wandering about! All the houses! All the items you could pick up and put down lying on tables and all that realistically! Not to mention the abundant amount of lore, intruiging stories, the main quest, adventuring.

But eventually, the generic npc's and segmented bodies together with the fact that I had played it for a long time killed my interest. So that's where we are about now. Only that I discovered the Fallout series. With just as much excitement and everything that BG had. Only in a different setting.

Aside from this, I've played numerous games, Nox, Command&Conquer, Tiberian Sun, both Red Alerts, Age of Empires, Krush Kill 'n Destroy, both Icewind Dale games, Battlefield 1942(currently), GTA I, GTA London, GTA II, GTA: VC, Jedi Knight, Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, Yoda Stories, Knights of the Old Republic, Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2003, Worms 2, all kinds of SNES (on emulator) and some Civilization.

Concluding, I want to recommend some games that you HAVE to try if you can get them, because they are simply the best:
Starcraft &Brood War
Daggerfall
Baldur's Gate
FalloutI&II

And ofcourse be looking for the new and upcoming Elder Scrolls title; Oblivion, because it's going to be very nice!

It was pretty cheap. It's a shame to me, a big Mario fan, to take so long to get one of his games.

I think the 80's computer games didn't have yet very advanced playtesting. Well, do the modern one's have then?

At least a C=64 game "Fairlight" has rumoured to have a same kind of error! I "might" be frustrating to find this out personally. Both that game and "Jet Set Willy" are just so god damn difficult games, that I'm not sure if anybody have walked through them? It would be interesting to check out with some kind of cheat mode. In case of Willy, infinite lives wouldn't help much, as the real problems were too difficult platform jumps. If you fell from a room to another, you died when arriving the room, and the you were resurrected from the same entrypoint, and you just dropped lethally with your remaining lives... Haha.   "Jet Set Willy 2" was a bit better, as you could train the rooms, if you knew the rooms exact name!

At the moment i'm just playing through Max Payne (1) for about the 5th time. My Thief 3: Deadly Shadows kick seems to be dormant right now. I downloaded The Minimalist Project after finishing it a couple of times and wow it's so much harder! But that's a good thing  I just need a break from it since i had been playing it for like 3 months straight.

I used to play alot of MK back in the day.

The newer game Mortal Kombat:Deception was really cool, especially KonKuest mode.It was really RPG-ish.

As far as fighting games go I really like the Soul Caliber games, because I like fighting with weapons better than the hand-to-hand stuff.

My favorite N64 game was Perfect Dark, just the most amazing shooting game I've ever played. Are they ever going to come out with that sequel, i need something to do when I'm bored?  Jet Force Gemini was another cool original game that was underrated.

I've started playing that again recently, but I'm convinced the N64 controller is the worst ever, for shooting at least.

I actually prefer the single stick control better.  I'm so used to playing rpgs, I like using a controller that uses one analog stick for movement.  N64's controller was very very comfortable to hold too.

My favorite N64 games are The Legend of Zelda:The Ocarina of Time,Star Wars:Rogue Squadron and Perfect Dark.

I played Goldeneye to death and when Perfect Dark came out I was in heaven, one of the best shooting games ever.

When my son was really young one of the first games he took to was Jet Force Gemini. We played that game for hours on end.
