But seriously folks, what's the best new album out there right now? I haven't heard much stuff from the millenium yet.

That We Vs. Death was okay but nothing more. Trying Ulver for the first time, really captivating first track. Chris, The best album of this millenium so far is Amnesiac followed by Kid A and The Crane Wife. Everyone knows that

Sorry Dan, I'd rather take Ian's opinions on this one. I like Her Majesty more than The Crane Wife anywho,
Ian, I cannot say that I am. But post-metal I am very willing to try!

The Crane Wife is #5 all time and Her Majesty is #7 I believe Let's see....more to your liking...have you tried Sleepytime Gorilla Museum yet? The Mars Volta? ACT? Pineapple Thief? Sleeping People? Magic Pie? Battles? UneXpect? Russian Circles? dredg? Koenjihyakkei? Amarok? wow that list was pointlessly long. My point is, there's a lot of post-2000 stuff that's great. It's impossible to find a starting place (besides Radiohead, that is) And Ian, as I said in another thread, you have to start listening to the Decemberists.

Okay I'll start you off with some of the basics...
Isis- Any album will do, Oceanic and Panopticon are both really solid, but inaot wasnt, but I seem to be the only person who thinks that.
Sigur ros- ( ), and Ageatis byrjurn are both amazing, and what little of the real Takk I have is good.
God is an astronaut- All is violent all is bright is post rock bliss
Maudlin of the well- Both Bath and Leaving your body map are pretty much masterpieces
*shels-the most non metal post metal band, hard to explain, check out my review
Explosios in the sky- world is not a cold dead place, beautiful
I have reviews on most of those albums, so read those to clear any confusion.

Cool, thanks Ian.
Dan, you know I love Mirrored, Viva Koenji, and anything by the Volta. I have the first two SGM's and one Radiohead. Your list was worthless

Well if any 2000s haters stop by they know were too look. But you should look at the others on that list. Not a dud on it.

And I second Agaetis and Leaving your Body Map and The Earth is Not... All 3 are fantastic.

You'll like the rest of their stuff then its all in the same vein, you should get The Rescue EP, its for free download on the EITS website, so there is no real excuse for not having it. Also Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever is their best IMO, Just barly beating out The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place

Since everyone of their other albums has already been recommended, I'll throw in All of a Sudden, I Miss Everyone. One of the best post-rock releases of last year.
