Nuerosis, Isis, and Pelican all try and take the cred for that, but we know who the real champeens are. |
Not sure where you take your info from, but Neurosis was doing this music long before all these bands joined in on the bandwagon. The Word as Law from 1991 and Souls At Zero (one of the best albums of this style) from 1992 are before any band was doing anything similar.

Pfffttt,
I have trouble even recognizing Neurosis as a post metal band, they're more of a progressive super sludge band, influenced by hardcore. Though, I will admit through silver and and blood, and the eye of every storm are both great, I really do see the lack of post metal.

ok.... It seems all other people are talking BS then....
Anyway, as for the term Post-Metal, not sure what you mean with it but that's another issue.
Oh well, carry on with your discussion....

Had to get that Krobak plug in there eh?
If you like Battles you'll surely like more of the Math Rock bands as well. Try 'Cheval de Frise' or my new addiction, 'We're From Japan!'

Math rock? Not my Favorite, but Zappa knows what he's talking about. Try Tera Melos, my personal fave math rock band.

I've got some pretty decent Math Rock bands besides Battles like Oxes,Maps + Atlases,65 Days Of Static,Piglet, etc. I totally dig math rock. Oh and BTW Neils On Impression is amazingly beautiful I totally love it. Can't seem to figure out why aren't they in the archives.

I loves me the math rock. I need to get into Post-Metal more. Not really a huge metal fan but I've never given the genre a real shot yet. Hit me with a recommendation Mr. Ian!

I like the album as well as the follow-up. They're both descent (about 3 stars each), but their other albums are more orchestrated and better, IMO. If you can manage to enjoy Efrim's vocals then you're in for a treat!
