Hey mate, hope you're well :) The new TD is really decent, a nice mix of old and new styles worked together in an intelligent way. Parts are not dissimilar to those recent live `Sessions' sets, but they're a little more compact and reigned in. I honestly believe you'd really like it if you give it some proper spins eventually, mate! My only grumble is that they reused two complete tracks from the previous EP as both the opener and the closer (even if they're fine tracks!)...apparently a lot of fans are preferring the rearranged vinyl track-listing over the CD.

Nice picks Michael! I span Electric Silence not that long ago..I figure it’s time for the Time Machine. Love that one as well. Also really dig that Sloche album

I am wildly jealous of you Steve - going to see Guerilla Toss live. Wow..that should definitely clear out the ol cobwebs of the mind which have spawned over the last couple of years with Toyota Corolla and all. A great punk-like gig would most likely do us all good.
I still need the new Animal Collective one.

@David - the new Animal Collective is one of my favorites overall from them. It doesn’t overload the senses, and it’s very easy on the ears, but not in a dumbed-down way. As much as I love the band’s wild experimental works, it’s nice to hear something that takes advantage of their unique chemistry to produce something that goes down smooth (would probably go well with some weed, hope to test that some day).

Sparks | Sparks
Hatfield & the North | Hatfield & the North
Klaus Schulze | X
Frank Zappa | Civilization Phaze III
Franco Battiato | Pollution
Missing Persons | Spring Session M
Sparks | Angst in my Pants
Procol Harum | Home
Canned Heat | Boogie with Canned Heat
Procol Harum | Broken Barricades
Queen | A Day at the Races
Black Sabbath | Born Again
Amen Dunes | Love
Genesis | And Then There Were Three

Guerilla Toss were pretty cool live, btw. Kassie (voc) was more energetic than I’d seen on any YT vids and they closed their set with a segue into an epic “All Tomorrow’s Parties”

Yeah, I know! I actually listened one of those times with a fellow PAer and told him precisely that Smile By the way, we were wondering if their singer was in another RPI band. It wasn't the case but I found out he sang an 80's hit: Kalimba de Luna Big smile

Is it as good as the previous album?

Camel - Rain Dances
Camel - Breathless
Renaissance - A Song for All Seasons

Birthday has been a bit of a dud, if only because I've not only been working it, but doing overtime! Not to worry! Thanks, mate.

And yeah, that album still holds up very well. Not exactly complex, but very tasty and atmospheric

Some good picks there too, Sam!

***

Only one album for me today, and hardly anything too special (and I'm not exactly sure why I dug this one off the shelf!):

Kiss - Music from The Elder (1981) - Kiss' notorious imitation of a prog-rock album...it's not exactly great, nor absolutely terrible...there's fleetingly cool moments here and there!

Steve: That actually sounds really interesting and somewhat what I’ve missed over some of their more heralded albums: melodic subtlety or indeed a more laidback approach to their otherwise fairly eclectic and disorientating style(s). I thought they came close with the previous album although it funnily enough also comes across as one of their most strange releases. Anyhoo, definitely looking forward to Time Skiffs (I probably have some space tobacco lying around methinks )
I’ve seen a couple of live vids of Guerilla Toss and must admit that I have a hard time imagining Kassie even more energetic. Holy moly indeed
Most energetic live show I’ve ever attended has to be The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, which I caught at a Roskilde Festival some 20 years ago. Any more energy and they would’ve exploded.

Michael: No need for the ol bonfire my friend! Non pork is just as played in my apartment. Currently on an XTC, Massive Attack (nice pick by mellotronwave btw!) and Black Country, New Road kicks I think I’ll spin some Prince when I get home. You introduced me to his more…err colourful art-poppy ways that I dig immensely.
Oh and happy birthday buddy!

Samuel: Was that Kotro you listened to Melos with by any chance? I hope he enjoyed the album as well. I always thought the singer sounded close to the one found in Procession.
I was actually planning to crank some RPI when I get back home (alongside some Prince!) but was thinking more along the lines of Semiramis and Etna. The latter is a really tasty slice of Italian fusion btw.
I love Kebnekaise lll. I think of it as a companion album to ll tbh. They could very well have made a terrific double methinks.
