Fine, that's just great, Alesis Yamaha is horribly hurt and offended! He just quit the band. Oh Well, back to the drawing board.

Reasons why IPOF hates drum machines

Vulture Culture

'Nuff said. They sound fake and ruin otherwise good songs. I'll admit that all of those albums had some good songs, and if they hadn't used drum machines, they would have been both good and enjoyable...

Drum machines? That's not even music! Its okay to use for practice for timekeeping. That should be the only reason they exist.

Perchance I do. I'd be inpraiseoffolly. But don't send me a friend request, because my email is backlogged by 2000 () progarchives "someone responded to your post" emails that were sent before I finally wised up and turned that feature off.

I'll let you know when it's safe again.

Don't blame the drum machine, blame the programmer.

The programmer is not the root of the problem. Blaming the programmer fixes the symptoms, but the disease remains.

So now you have a choice. Who do you keep? Me, or the drum machine?

Ok, here's the deal,

I figured since I have the recording equipment and most of the necessary instruments minus the bassoon, shofar, sitar and wood, I thought I would offer to lend my talents for fun, and collaborate with some like minded people in producing something concrete. Just for fun I could have put together a decent little demo that could have been very impressive. I prefer the sound of real drums like no one else, but in the confines of the small space that I have to work in, real drums are not practical. The only drummer I know lives about 50 miles from me, and I have not talked with him in like two years.
If your going to be a real band and perform live, then real drums if any are the answer.

I have played guitar since I was 13 and I'm now 38, and have played in many bands with many different musicians. Most of the bands dissolved because of the rudeness, incompatibilty and not being able to depend on a member or two. I didn't expect that from a project that I was willing to do for fun and friends.

Good luck doing whatever it is that you are going to do.

We need neither drums nor drum machines. We need Australian's Heavy Wood, which we have.

I skipped through most of the thread, but I feel the strange need to make the following points:

1) I quit.

2) Our bass player is, and always will be, Jeffrey. Until he wakes up to that fact, we'll use whoever mentioned it.

3) I rejoin.

4) Phil Collins deserves a drum machine shoved up his ass.

5) I quit.

Anything I miss?

Yes, you missed two points (which I will state as if you had actually written them):

6) IPOF hates drum machines
7) I rejoin

Other than that, though, you basically got it.
