any "The Six Parts Seven" fans on here?  They're a great post-rock band, very straight-forward.  Not really any heavy breakouts, mostly just happy sounding, sleep-inducing, major-scale music.

I... received a siver mount zions newest album 13 blues for thirteen moons. I'm a bit disapointed, I thought the vocals were gonna be breath taking, and the music itself is a bit too non stop. I wasnt completely bad parts though.

I also got some johnnytwentythree

Was 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons your first  A Silver Mt. Zion album? I have a feeling that it is seeing as how you described how the vocals were.

What did you though of Johnnytwentythree?  The album was a slow grower, but thankfully  the song The Fall Of Swords kept me interested in them and made me a fan of their sound.

Yep. I'm a fan.Smile

I really enjoyed their 2007 release. The album was very tranquil, colorful and upbeat. A nice breath from the melancholy that storms the genre. I also enjoyed the acoustic moments in it too.

Any news on them releasing a new album this year?

Yes, it is. I have been hearing about how beautiful this guys vocals are, though I can see how they can stir some kind of emotion, they're barely better that the vocalsit of slint LOL

Anyways I'm adoring Johnnytwentythree right now, beutiful GY!BE influenced music, but on a more positive note. I think I'm gonna like them better than yndi Halda, though I wasnt too impressed with YH in the first place.

It's not that Yndi Halda was a GY!BE rip off, it was the fact that the music was too straght forward and positive to do four 15+ minuete songs.

I just listened to the climaxgasm of ghost soldiers!

nah i felt that they picked up halfway through godspeed's repertoire and didnt do anything to build on what they already had done. pretty bland stuff too. Its like the happy version of F#A# oo only a 2 or low 3 star version.

YH= guitar arpeggios+Happiness

Johny23= arpeggios+strings+semi happiness

im trying but i cant hear a big difference between godspeeds sound and yndie halda besides the utter and complete domination by the former. its happier and definitey not as well developed atmospherically, but the instrumentation just sounds exactly the same, if a bit more guitar based than GSY!BE. like a combination of explosions in the sky and godspeed-esque post.

Good point, I can see why you might hear a lot more Godspeed references from Antennas to heaven, and when added some EITS, you have your band. Still Yndi halda isnt bad, probably a three star album, if I ever come around to listen to it again.

Speaking of EITS, I need some more, I love the world is not a cold dead place, whts your thoughs on their most rescent?

I wouldn't call his vocals "beautiful", but haunting would be a better adjective and it wouldn't be haunting if it wasn't for those apocalyptic lyrics. Listen to  earlier songs like Takes This Hands And Throw Them In The River, Babylon Was Built On Fire, God Bless Our Dead Marines, Microphones In The Trees, Movie (Never Made) and you'll see what I mean.

Glad to see you loving JXXIII ! Clap

All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone is a solid release, I definitely recommend it. It's certainly better than Enjoy Eternal Bliss imo. Wink
Musically, it's certainly on par with The Earth is not a Cold Dead Place.

It's quite good, but not as good as The World Is Not A...  Still it's a nice album. Very punchy and great melodies. It's their second best from them, IMO.

i liked How Strange, Innocence and  those who tell the truth shall die, those who tell the truth shall live forever. Both are very good tho again, not as good as The earth is not a cold dead place. EITS start to get a little monotonous if you go album jumping, but those three are the only ones I have.

Hey, check out this song by "I am the Ocean"  It's a very good post-rock song that sounds along the lines of Oceansize's post-rockish moments.  The rest of their songs are not post-rock at all.  They sound like a hardcore version of deftones...but this song is actually amazing.

Good to hear from you, but I personally like YH even MORE THAN GYBE NOW Wow, I really said that! I mean, they're less dramatic but more melodic, no samples, no avant/noise-leanings, pure melodies So for now it goes like

YNDI HALDA > GYBE > JOHNNYTWENTYTHREE

J23 is quite enjoyable as well, pretty ambient at times. I hope cham will increase their rating to well-deserved 4 stars so that I could post my 4-stars review too

Speaking of new ASMZ, I like it a lot ("garage folk", this is it ), especially "we go too slow" part in "Black Waters Boiled" and the whole "One Million" epic. Eponymous track is the less captivating dare I say . "BlindBlindBlind" is a bit too long, but good. 3,5 stars for now

Go ahead. The album is very close to 4 stars like I said in my review, but I still think the music needs a little improvement.  Perhaps after a couple more listens I'll enjoy their music even more!  So don't wait for me because when the time comes I'll make sure I'll change the ratings.Wink

BTW, have you heard Sickoakes'  single yet? Keiser heard it and liked it. I think that you'll like them too.

Oh! and keep an eye out for The Pirate Ship Quintet.

The song isn't from the album. In fact, the album has that same song in 30 minute length, BUT it's been worked over so much that it sounds nothing like the single.
