PA has SmaK listed as a jazz-fusion band. That's a cool song, but do they also do instrumentals? Nice MiniMoog solo.

Oh that was so easy because I'm a fan of Smak. This is my fav song from the album - english version -  which is a mix of heavy prog and (or) melodic late 70s hard rock and jazz rock -  a really gorgeous one:

Yes, Smak did do a lot of instrumentals; I posted three instrumental videos here: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=95908&PN=2

Can you recommend me more bands like Lucifer's Friend?

Always liked this one....1970 but it seems heavy to me in an early KC way.

Goes along with my other post, but sadly, the word "heavy" has lost its meaning, and an admin thinks the word is crap anyway so choosing anything as "heavy" is silly, bizarre and what not.

But in many ways, AD2, is probably too serious and meaningfull to be appreciated by many folks here, and that is probably the reason why a lot of folks don't like it. And things like "Mozambique" and "Apocaliptyc Bore" are much more than just a rock song in many ways. Considering that even Mozambique got its independence some 6 months later, makes the song even more poignant , but you fight on!

Reminds me of their song ... shoot, shoot, go ahead and shoot, make up your mind before I make it up for you ... and I don't think people like to be challenged or for the most part, it looks like no one will be taking a whole lot of twerk'rs seriously, including Mick Jagger!

Come to think of it, it's also one of the things many people don't like Bob Dylan, and his sardonic style of delivery helped make "Blonde on Blonde" outstanding, but man, it was laden cynicism, and other bad stuff for any relationship! Full of mistrust, and the like!

But as Dean is fond of saying, it's just a pop song, anyway! I tend to define "heavy" as a whole lot more than a pop song, and nearing the works on poetry and other writings. I think that the lyrics in TFTO and CTTE are "heavy", but here it is an image of a sound effect, and supposed lyric, and it's hard for me to take twerk'ing too seriously!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Once again Pedro's trying very hard to confused everyone over a word with at least twenty one different meanings.

  1. Having relatively great weight: a heavy load.
  2. Having relatively high density; having a high specific gravity.
  3. Large, as in number or quantity: a heavy turnout; heavy casualties. Large in yield or output: heavy rainfall.
  4. Of great intensity: heavy activity; heavy fighting.
  5. Having great power or force: a heavy punch. Violent; rough: heavy seas.
  6. Equipped with massive armaments and weapons: a heavy cruiser; heavy infantry. Large enough to fire powerful shells: heavy guns.
  7. Indulging to a great degree: a heavy drinker. Involved or participating on a large scale: a heavy investor.
  8. Of great import or seriousness; grave: heavy matters of state.
  9. Having considerable thickness: a heavy coat. Broad or coarse: drew the face with heavy lines.
  10.  Dense; thick: a heavy fog. Slow to dissipate; strong: "There was a heavy fragrance of flowers and lemon trees" (Mario Puzo). Too dense or rich to digest easily: a heavy dessert. Insufficiently leavened: heavy bread. Full of clay and readily saturated: heavy soil.
  11. Weighed down; burdened: trees heavy with plums. Emotionally weighed down; despondent: a heavy heart. Marked by or exhibiting weariness: heavy lids. Sad or painful: heavy news.
  12. Hard to do or accomplish; arduous: heavy going; heavy reading. Not easily borne; oppressive: heavy taxes.
  13. Lacking vitality; deficient in vivacity or grace: a heavy gait; heavy humour.
  14. Sharply inclined; steep: a heavy grade.
  15. Having a large capacity or designed for rough work: a heavy truck.
  16. Of, relating to, or involving the large-scale production of basic products, such as steel: heavy industry.
  17. Of or relating to a serious dramatic role.
  18. Physics Of or relating to an isotope with an atomic mass greater than the average mass of that element.
  19. Loud; sonorous: a heavy sound; heavy breathing.
  20. Linguistics Of, relating to, or being a syllable ending in a long vowel or in a vowel plus two consonants.
  21. Slang: Of great significance or profundity. Very popular or important: a rock star who is really heavy.
Fortunately most of us are capable of knowing which definition applies in specific circumstances, we're not so slow as to think that Heavy Rock is in anyway deep and meaningful or profound but appreciate that the word in the name Heavy Rock refers to a form of loud and aggressive music.
