All these new bands (you want to call them neo-prog) i dont care what label you put them on sound boring to me,they are bad copies of the older groups! Now they all sound the same to me except some very few like OZRIC TENTACLES, TOOL AND PORCUPINE TREE and they are new prog for me, i dont care if they play progmetal or space rock! I respect your opinion and you should respect mine!

I think the point is that neo-prog does not simply refer to newer prog bands, but is a pigeonhole that defines a specific sound as typified by bands like Marillion, IQ, Arena, etc...

Ozric, Tool, and PT are all awesome new prog bands, no question. But none are considered neo-prog.

The name of the thread is about new bands and not neo-prog bands!

Arena, Marillion, Pendragon, Clepsydra

IQ would be similarly mentioned if they didn't have the crap drumming. It totally spoils Ever, is it the same on Subterranea? I am seriously thinking of getting it but couldn't cope with it if the drumming was the same. Why do some groups over emphasize the drums? They only got it right for Seventh House and Dark Matter.

Currently listening to Satellite, Collage and Carptree

IQ are bloody good Subterrannea has many fine moments but I also really like Porcupine Tree and TFK'S,Arena, Riverside and Marillion with Fish were quite excellent.I can't go all these irritating tags; Neo this and Neo that, if it's good prog music it'll do for me. And the mightily impressive Mostly autumn.

Paul Cooks drumming is absolutely fine on Ever.

After all the name of the thread is NEO-BANDS AND NOT NEO-PROG!!!

I agree with your opinion on Ozric Tentecles and Tool( Lateralus only)......I seemed to have missed the "Neo-Band" part, Sorry
