This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you.  - then don't Censoreding hit me!
I know what you're thinking - really? why are you still here then?
It's obvious that... - it's not obvious at all.
What you fail to see - is what you've failed to explain
We both can't be right - logic isn't your strong point is it?
Did you hear/read what I said - you said something stupid and I saw that.
Get a life... got one thanks.
Can you spare a minute? - and if I say no you'll waste even more of my time asking why - variants on this that use ever decreasing time intervals bug me - got a second? (I ain't got a first mate) - I've even been asked if I can spare a nanosecond - grrh!.
Using Quantum leap  to mean a big-step - sure it's a big step for an electron but on a human scale it's minuscule.

What?

I was just about to post about how much that annoys me. LOL

I may have to tuck that one away for later use.

All the variations of

"I can't lie to you..."

"I'm not going to lie to you..."

Which mean that you're very used to lying and for this single time you're going to tell the truth to try and throw me off.

In any case, I've never heard this phrase come from someone who doesn't lie on a regular basis.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

I also don't mind the use of "like". Yeah, it can dominate speech at times, especially the speech of self-conscious teenagers, but it's far from meaningless.

Dunno.......How can anything be 'Like, Wow' ?   'Like, Wuw', perhaps?

ie......'I was, like, petrified'...........  Shocked

What.....you mean you was'nt petrified, but in a state that was merely, like,  like it?  Confused

So you mean you was'nt petrified?  Ermm

Surely the dumbest expression to ever plague the inhuman race. Like, gross.

What's even worse is the right wing airheads who complain about the "unprecedented" use of Czars in the Obama administration, when there's no such thing as a czar! It's a title invented by the media!

The Onion has a classic, but vicious, article about battling with cancer.

I hope Bill Gates never gets involved in a controversy about gates....

We'd have Gatesgatesgate.  Would'nt that be hideous?  Wink

My friends, before we go any further with this thread...we need to have a pre-meeting, or I guess a pre-thread in this case, to make certain we're prepared for the actual thread.

Can you tell me where we're headin'?
Lincoln County Road or Armageddon.

^ tut-tut, not allowed to call it brainstorming any more (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/2162568/Council-bans-brainstorming.html)

It's political correctness gone mad - no, it's deliberatily drawing attention to peoples disabilities by making associations that don't exist.

My perception might be skewed since I'm not a native English speaker, but I really dislike the term 'human resources'. It's a position for managing worker's strategies -- and it sounds like a penal labour in a camp.

Also, I hate the word 'celebs'. The context of usage is pathetic, but the word itself sounds like an exotic vegetable or salamander.

I think that term was invented because people confused Personnel with Personal. It does now mean they need a seperated department for managing the monkeys.

"family values" is another one

I hate the expression 'family values' It's both offensive and meaningless in equal measure..if that's possible.

The right wing seem to think that once you're married and have children you start living like the f***ing Waltons. One third of familes in the UK are 'broken' the parents living apart, the kids unhappy and messed up as a result. What are the values there? In any case why should a family unit have moral superioty of any individual?

It's politicians speak really, and like most of the sh*t that spews forth when they open their holes, it's to be taken with a huge pinch of salt.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

"Well, basically...."

translation - "you don't know about the subject, so I can bull as much as I like"

"Well, at the end of the day..."

translation - I'm not sure what to say next, so I'm faffing a bit"

Fail (or) Epic Fail

translation - "I don't have much of a vocabulary"

Your post was an epic win LOL  Seriously though, the Iliad is epic, the cosmos are epic, your last match in Call of Duty wasn't epic, as epic means long, or vast in size. People these days..
