Tal Wilkenfeld is my favourite bass player of modern times and I came to this conclusion based on her musical skill and nothing else influenced my decisionEmbarrassed

I've never liked Chris Squire.  Ten on the skill level....pretty low on the taste/feel level.  Same with Wooten...I mean yeah, he can absolutely destroy physically, but he's like the shredder equivalent of a bassist.  It's impressive in a physical movement kind of way, but not musically at all.

Really? I find all the same the bass line in the mythic track "Close To The Edge" absolutely groovy.
It seems to me that does not miss feeling.
After all, it's subjective... Ermm

I voted for Squire BECAUSE of his freeling........if you know what I mean.Wink

Despite (not quite the right word) being really cute she really seems at one with the electric bass.  How about this: she's totally bassic. LOL

Saw Percy Jones with a three-piece Brand X open for Hackett in '92. Unforgettable!

1. Percy Jones
2. Jeff Berlin
3. Tony Franklin
4. John Wetton
5. Geddy Lee
6. Chris Squire

Do my eyes betray me or did I fail to spot Tony Levin?
If not than first vote for a Bass veteran Smile. From the poll my vote goes to Ruttherford though.

Yes, Jean Baudin is great. I really need to get his album. The stuff I've heard from it just floors me.

I've only seen John Myung mentioned here once, as an afterthought! He really deserves to be in this.

I could not actually answer the question. First, there was no mention of John Entwistle, but if he isn't prog enough, there is also no mention of John Jowitt.
