JLocke: Sorry, no, I seriously think Coldplay suck.
What are you apologizing to me for? It's fashionable to bash pop groups on these forums, that's all I said. I could care less if you like or hate Coldplay. I don't own a single album by those guys, so I have no interest in it.

Radiohead.
A true example of a modern Prog band - far superior to all the pretenders (those bands who call themselves "Prog" but only sound a bit like it, or simply play something on the technical side - you know who I mean).
Muse had it for a while, then lost it. Between 2001-2004 they were probably the best band on the planet - and sharing Radiohead's producer, it's not surprising that comparisons were made. Stockholm Syndrome still astonishes to this day with its power.
I must be alone among Prog fans in actually liking Coldplay, and I think they've got better from album to album. Call me unfashionable if you like. Hell, if their most recent output was good enough for Brian Eno, it's good enough for me.

^no, you're not the only one here who likes Coldplay.
Though, unlike you, I prefer the first one the best and for me they got less consistent with each album though not necessary a worse band. Parachutes is really superb alt. rock influenced by Radiohead's early stuff.

Muse is usually laughable.
Why? I don't have a problem with people disliking Muse- I barely listen to them anymore (though for me they're still the top of these 3). But a lot of people are just saying 'this band sucks', I'd just like to hear reasons and thoughts.

Close between Muse and Radiohead (exactly why Coldplay are in the same poll is a bit baffling though). My avatar might be a clue to who I voted for (or maybe not)

Specifically, because their lyrics are often atrocious, belted out by a guy who can hit high notes with a usually-annoying sneer, and the music is often too pompous for it's own good.
It often has a condensed epicness feel to it that come off as tacky more often than not.

I think you've just described a lot of Prog rock bands - what is the problem with a band that sounds like that again?
