Hi again.
I can clearly see why you guys don't consider Vai, blackmore and even petrucci shreaders. My list does not only include pure shredders, but also some people who ocationaly shreads, as the guitarist mentioned abowe. Some of Petruccis work with LTE and his solo-stuff contain a lot of shread, as does a lot of the early vai-songs. For the love of god, answers and attitudesong beeing good examples.

What I'm asking is who do you think is the best shreader, when they use their ability to shread. That means they don't have to be fullblown shreaders.

I'm also happy to see Tore Ostby, my fellow landsman, get a vote. A realy underestimated guitarist.
It is said to be the first Test-pressing of the corean release??

Blackmore is the father of shred. Vai, Satriani, Malmsteen and Friedman all kick ass too.

Oh geez... check this guy out: Adam Fulara.  I don't know if you want to call him "shred" exactly, but he is a very talented musician.  Download some of videos, they absolutely are mindblowing!

Yngwie is hands down the winner. His arpeggios and progressions are melodic, flawlessly fast, and multi-modal. He is a total psycho shredder, to the point where few people even get what he's doing. The critics hate Yngwie - they prefer a garage band sound like Neil Young because it's "honest" and is slow enough for their dim-witted understanding.

There is no doubt Malmsteen is playing from his soul, there is no way you could get that fast and good without putting your heart into the guitar.

Satriani and Van Halen are fantastic too. Steve Vai put me to sleep in a live performance.

Petrucci frequently lacks melody and his shredding ends up sounding pointless. He needs some more structure in his playing. That doesn't mean to slow it down. Sorry DT fans.

Ritchie Blackmore is also one of the greatest, but I'm voting for Michael Schenker because someone has to!

Clap

Sorry sinner but for multi-modal please read poddle haired bell end. Malmsteen has got a great technique but melodically my arse sounds better after after a night on the Guiness.

All the guys mentioned are good I am not for one second going to dispute that but I am dissapointed that nobody has mentioned the 'Thunder from Down Under'  That is Frank Gambale.

I dont really like a lot of his songs but for speed and technique this bloke blows Malmsteen out of the water. You could mention Allan Holdsworth in the same breath as they are both fusion players but Gambale has a much more straight forward rock feel to his playing than Holdsworth.

Micheal D'Angelo, fret board deiety as he likes to be known ? ha ha. I mean come on, has this bloke ever seen Spinal Tap or what. I have never heard him but hopefully he lives up to his choosen monicker.

Junior Brown ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

"Never ever bloody anything ever"
"And that was your winning slogan ?
"I've lived by life by it Nicolas"

Also should be considered:

Michael Weikath (Helloween)

Timo Tolkki (Stratovarius)

Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne)

Dave Murray (Iron Maiden)

Kai Hansen (Gamma Ray)

Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne)

Basically, there are so many phenomenal lead guitar shredders it's ridiculous. If I was "The Edge" I'd be embarrassed to go on stage with any of these guys.
