His third album actually.

I was not aware, according to WIKI he released a couple of albums in 1973. Never seen them on sale anywhere and no links on WIKI.

  • 1973 – Deserted Palace
  • 1973 – Les Granges Brûlées

BTW His own website has this and note the word 'debut'.

Composer, performer, producer. Visionary, innovator, cultural ambassador. Any list of Jean-Michel Jarre’s countless factettes would inevitably come short of his actual significance in music history. “JMJ” is a living legend and often referred to as the “Godfather of Electronic Music”. When Jarre launched his landmark- debut album “OXYGENE” in 1976, he opened a new chapter in music history. The record has sold over 18 million copies and laid the foundations for his exceptional career. Jarre’s pioneering work gave birth to a veritable cult and the fastest-growing trend the music industry has ever stood to witness: the rise of electronic music.

Les granges brûlées is a french thriller movie issued in 1973 with Simone Sigoret and Alain Delon.
(a good thriller imo).

Could have quite a lot of fun with this. Pink Floyd's debut was Dark Side Of The Moon as up to then they were just a psyche band. Tulls debut was Thick As A Brick as before that they were a heavy folk rock/blues band. Yes' prog debut was The Yes Album... and so on and so on Wink

King's X- great choice, Clap such an underrated and often overlooked band, it's a bit ridiculous. Smile

Sound Of Contact only did one album (it's great for sure). The 2 key members Dave Kerzner and Simon Collins eventually went their seperate ways and Kerzner did a couple of albums under the moniker In Continuum which featured material that was originally earmarked for SOC. Collins also formed a band called eMolecule last year with Kelly Nordstrom (also ex SOC) and released an excellent album called The Architect. Well worth checking out all these side projects if you like SOC.

In which case, I was right about Moody Blues' The Days Of Future Passed.... none of this Magnificent Moodies' Popular Beat Combo rubbish, sans Lodge and Hayward.. LOL

and MMEB; should we start with Messin'? Big smile
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Absolutely, and thanks to you both for reminding me to go back and edit my list to include Out of the Silent Planet. I can't believe I forgot.

I suppose he doesn't think of them as his albums the same way as Oxygene - which is understandable. But they exist nevertheless. It's for die hard fans who needs to own everything only - or maybe those into of Library Music/Moogsploitation-kinds of albums. As the latter group of nerds include me. That's why I've listened to them at some point. Two forgettable footnotes that I found somewhat interesting to have heard, once.

I'm a fairly new Glass Hammer fan (first getting turned on by the amazing album "Perilous!), and their debut album "Journey of the Dunadan" certainly led to greater things!

That's a fine debut, definitely worth owning. Years ago, I stumbled across a sealed copy and took it, since the earliest one I had at the time was Perelandra.

^ It was Chronomotree that sparked my interest in Glass Hammer. The Inconsolable Secret is the one I regularly return to. I like that more than most classic symph prog. One of only 2 albums with drummer Matt Mendians, he of the stripey sticks and facial tick. Great drummer, kind of their Bill Bruford as I see it.

Chronometree remains my favorite GH album, followed by Inconsolable and Dunadan. They've done some other good works, but nothing vibes for me the way those three do.

I enjoy the recent albums a lot including Arise. They have got a lot heavier and moved away from the more symphonic style they were mainly known for. There is a lot to enjoy in their back catalogue and very little to avoid.
