Happy birthday, Steve (black coffee). I hope you had a nice day. Good to see you spinning some Level 42 as well. ^ Hey, nice list! Never heard of Nodens Ictus before but I see it's Ozrics-related. In the last three days: Fiona Apple - Tidal
iNFiNiEN - Light at the Endless Tunnel (Discovery of the week for sure!) Opeth - Heritage (First listen. The best one I heard from them so far.) Yes - 90125 Dvorak - Symphony no.9 Causa Sui - Return to Sky (Late night Stoner Rock, so good to unwind.) Tomoyo Harada - I Could Be Free (J-Pop with The Cardigans' production, very 70's sounding as expected.) The Cardigans - Life (Never heard them properly before. Like the previous album, it sounds so sweet on my studio monitors.) Hiromi Iwasaki - Wish Finneus Gauge - One Inch of the Fall (Such a busy album, had to take a couple of breaks.) Oren Ambarchi - Hubris (One of the most captivating minimalist records I own, like a modern take on Ash Ra Tempel. The first piece has a very rich electro-acoustic sound texture (visually well represented on the cover) and the last is built on a rather complex locked groove. There's always movement but it never breaks its hypnotic spell.) |

Wigwam- Being (the new Svart re-issue on double red vinyl.. arrived yesterday!) its a double album version with original 1974 mix and a 2001 remix which on first listen gives the album much more separation and makes it feel much clearer, less dense and muddy.. What a fantastic lp!! Cos I was in the mood I then listened to: Area- 'Arbeit macht frei' Tasavallan Presidentti 'Milky way Moses' |

^ I considered getting that Wigwam reissue, but I wouldn't risk buying vinyl with this heat (40ºC today and I live near the ocean). More music to cool down: Ryan Mark Elliot - Between a Disillusion and Resolution Terpandre - Terpandre Taeko Onuki - Sunshower Mike Oldfield - QE2 Edgar Froese - Aqua Jonas Munk & Nicklas Sørensen - Always Already Here (Another minimalist favourite, the tones and EQ are delightful.)
Zombi - 2020 (Such a disappointment, it has so little depth and direction ) Riverside - Love, Fear and the Time Machine La Fabbrica dell'Assoluto - 1984: L'Ultimo Uomo d'Europa (I always have a blast listening to this. I sure hope they'll release a second album eventually.) Casiopea - Casiopea |

Hi all. My work hrs have skyrocketed, but I’m still making time to research and discover some new and older music for myself. Lately. Here are my goods.
The Idle Hands— Dont waste your time. ( new 2020 EP from this amazing sisters of mercy inspired band. ) The Blue Nile— Hats ( incredible 1989 melancholy sophomore album. The downtown lights is such an atmospheric classic. Really great. Hans Zimmer— Days of Thunder (original motion picture score. ) Honestly. This was Hans zimmer’s 3rd movie score and I think it is my favourite thing he’s ever done. Really cool electric guitar from Jeff beck as well. I recommend this to anyone really. |

Went through a bit of a COVID scare this week - hit a high fever out of nowhere (well, 3 days of panic/anxiety attacks, but other than that...) and went into quarantine away from my family (and kitties!) for 3 days before finding out my test result was negative. Imagine my relief. In my isolation, I had plenty of music; however, 3 bands formed the bulk of my listening. Many hours of each:
Steely Dan (all the albums thru Gaucho) Guided by Voices (shuffle of umpteen albums, EPs, singles, outtakes, etc nearly 500 tracks in the mix) Frank Zappa (the newest 1970 box set and the Zappa in New York box set) |
