Good band. What album did you heard from them?
http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=1347 They're one of the earliest bands in the post-rock genre and shows one of the many links between Krautrock and Post-rock. Their first albums were highly influenced by Can, but as time progressed they started to sound more and more to the Post-rock that we know of today. |

How do post-rock fans feel about Morte Macabre? I was just listening to "Symphonic Holocaust" earlier and remembered how it has a very post-rock style. Good stuff.

It was Death of the Sun, an excellent album indeed. Now I'm listening to Meanwhile, Back in Communist Russia - My Elixir, My Poison. I love the touch added by the monologues as well as the electronic beats mixed with great soundscapes. |

^^^ I found that album too monotonous for my taste. It was a nice album the first times I heard it, but I quickly grew out of it. I haven't listened to it for more than a year now. Maybe I'll get back to it to see if I still like it.
Talking about Meanwhile, Back In Communist Russia, BTW. |

So, I got down to the post rock roots this weekend and got some Slint and Tortoise. Both of them border math rock/avant garde. I've only given each one spin so I'll update on their progress with me. I also got some Neal Morse (one), and SGM (of natural history). Blowing christmas money is fun.

I'm actually listening to of natural history as we speak. It's not as weird as it may be described, which was kind of a disapointment for me, though I am extremely impressed with the quality of the vocals of the band, unlike most avant bands, these vocals are extremely listenable, and compliment the backround music tremendously.

I heard in a flesh aquarium is a masterpiece.
Remember this is the post rock/metal thread, so lets not rabbit trail towards avant metal, which I seem to do often nowadays.

Cool! You can start off by downloading SICKOAKES - Wedding Rings & Bullets In The Same Golden Shrine for FREE here: www.archive.org/details/pls003 And while you're downloading it, why not read Clarke's review of it? : SICKOAKES — Wedding Rings & Bullets In The Same Golden Shrine Review by clarke2001 (Moris Mateljan) Prog Reviewer
The single "Wedding Rings & Bullets In The Same Golden Shrine" is a
post rock epic, it last fifteen minutes, and it's worth
downloading. Yes, this single is an internet release. You can download
it for free! Apart from this, I'm not familiar with the
band, but I'm glad I discovered it. The description of the song follows. ^^^^ Couldn't agree more with that last paragraph. |

Yes because UneXpect is a fine example of the sounds of post-rock/post-metal |

Well, I made the avant metal thread, so this kind of talk can leave.
I... received a siver mount zions newest album 13 blues for thirteen moons. I'm a bit disapointed, I thought the vocals were gonna be breath taking, and the music itself is a bit too non stop. I wasnt completely bad parts though.
I also got some johnnytwentythree
