Sorry Dominic, but I don't see the complexity of their compositions anywhere in the album or their single. Just my opinion.

I can see where you're coming from, i honestly don't think of them as especially more progressive (or atleast "post rock") than creative considering some almost blatantly uninspired bands that seem like plagiarism of the "post rock" originators. I had actually rejected the idea of suggesting them already because they don't seem to fit appropriately under any prog. subgenre.

Btw, i can't stop listening to those The Pirate Ship Quintet & Neil on Impression Myspace samples. Big%20smile Those bands are certianly next on my list after MotW.

Good to see you enjoying those bands. Their both great and I recently wrote a review of TPSQ for PA. I'll post it later today.

I don't know if any of you know this; I wouldn't be surprised, but Kayo Dot are essentially Maudlin.... If you have not listened to them I would give them a listen, they are really good too.
Blah, blah blah blah, blah blahblahblah.... Blah.

Ah yes, back when I was first getting into motW I was reading about them and thought, "Crap, they've already broken-up! And all their albums are out-of-print?! What's this... Kayo... Dot?! Sounds weird..." Of course I then heard samples of Choirs of the Eye from AllMusic.com and just had to get it.

Yeah. Most of us know about the relation between both bands.

Tartar Lamb is an awesome project of Driver's,the man is a genius.

I love his solo album In the L...L...Library Loft. It's good, but extremely experimental.I wouldn't recommend it to someone not familiar with Driver, because it can be pretty inaccessible at first.

I like how I started a complete Toby Driver revolution in the underground prog metal community.

Anyways, I got Ulvers themes from William Blakes... Kinda creepy, I dont like how they're trying to justify satan, or am I hearing it wrong?

Sorry Schizy, that Toby Driver revolution was made thanks to Trickster 2 years ago. If it wasn't for his praises and interview with Toby I wouldn't be listening to his projects and solo albums. Special nods goes to Useful Idiot for his reviews too.

Still, It's been a while since I seen any discussion about him so cheers for bringing it up for the new (and not so new) members to see and talk about it. Thumbs%20Up

Not really tech. They are/were an eclectic band, that has metal as their basis and then some.
Listen to them here:

Paul Kuhr of Novermber's Doom does the vocals (very well) and those range from clear to growling.

A brilliant band, lead by Israeli musician Tomer Pink (there are other Israeli ties, like Kobi Farchi from Orphaned Land and Yosi Schwartz).

As for MotW and related, I remember discovering them back when they released Fruit (1999) and I then followed them on until their breakup, being very sad about it, but then very happy to find out about Kayo Dot.

They do have an eclectic approach to their music much like MOTW's  loud / soft songwriting. The difference is that Subterranean Masquerade doesn't switch on and off from soft to loud since the music melds both sides seemingly.  I can't quite explain it, but do check out the reviews.

Circle:Speed Kraut Pioneers.LOL

Circle are a weird band and have a creepy affection with Krautrock and, lately, mixing Krautrock with whatever genre's next to them (Black Metal, Fusion, doom meta, punk, heavy metal).

If you want something really funny check out the singer's groovy moves: http://www.progarchives.com/media.asp?id=929 LOL

Damn. Just talking about Circle makes me want to put an album from them. Which reminds me that I haven't finished reviewing their discography....
