Close to the Edge owns Relayer.

I can't believe we ended up discussing this.

Happens from time to time.
Usually it's beer though.

Anyone else think EL&P isn't really that good?

I can't judge if they're good or not, but nothing I've heard from them makes much sense to me.Angry

Then again, I only have one album, Brain Salad Surgery.

I have that, the debut, and Tarkus which I believe is their crown jewel...and out of all that some is good, but most doesn't do it for me.

I heard Brain Salad Surgery was their crown jewel.  Why can't there be some kind of consensus on this stuff?LOL

Anyway, I can't fairly judge them when I don't really understand their music and haven't heard their other albums.  But listening to Brain Salad Surgery is more of a chore than an enjoyable experience.  One thing I like about prog is that even if I don't enjoy the music per se, certain albums make me feel like I'm discovering something--it's what keeps me coming back to them and, months later, finally makes me appreciate them.

Brain Salad Surgery just bores me out of my mind when I try to listen to it.  The only prog album I have that does.

To be honest, Yes would be so much better without Jon Anderson. And CTTE is better than Relayer. And both are much better than TFTO. And all of these are much better than all of ELP's output except Tarkus. And all of this is true because I just said it.

Damn, we're actually talking music in this music forum... You see? Eventually, we all fall like sheep and bow down to the system.... Government has corrupted our soul.

Actually, I think we're rebelling:

Well this has certainly been my favorite thread about a topic...(basically not the SR!)
But man I need a break.
Going against 3-5 libertarians was draining, and you appear to be sliding to the dark side now as well. Wink

What, was The T not sympathetic to libertarianism at one point?

This I have to see.
