Barclay James Harvest (BJH) and all those 3 letter "abbreviation bands" elp, elo... Yes (Roger Dean's logo is pretty cool and I like some of their albums) Asia (nice logo and artwork too but extremely boring music) however the most stupid names can be found in metal music ;-) |

By the way, your quote is a slightly misquoted Niels Bohr quote. He stated: "There are trivial truths and the great truths. The opposite of a trivial truth is plainly false. The opposite of a great truth is also true." |

"Amon" (or in some spellings "Ammon") is an ancient Egyptian God with the horns of a ram. "Düül" is a character from Turkish literature. And the "2" simply stems from the fact that the original Amon Düül split up, and those who left added the "2" to distinguish themselves from the others. Edited by BaldJean |

"10cc" as well as "The Loving Spoonful". Both names refer to the average volume of the ejaculate as the result of a male orgasm. Edited by BaldJean |

I'm not in harmony with you... For the italian way to prog "Premiata Forneria Marconi" is a good name... Is the synthesis of the long english prog names, plus the mediterranean sound... Perfect for me... |

I was not joking. There really is a shop of sweets somewhere in Italy that has the name "Premiata Forneria Marconi". The information is from a rock lexicon. |

Yes, the name comes from that but I have to give my (I think) expert opinion on that. Let me explain: it's not that I'm an expert in male ejaculates (I only know about my own, at least since I was a teenager and did some competitions with friends), but that I'm a physiologist, with some expertise in reproductive physiology, and I can tell you for sure that the volume is very variable, but seldom bigger than 5 cc. So yes, those might be the most stupid band names ever...

I love Supertramp, but I consider it's rather a stupid name.

"Hatfield and the North" are named after a sign on the M1 motorway in England. I saw that sign myself. |

The Flower Kings have by far the worst name...and they wonder why they have trouble attracting a wider audience? Tool is also in this day and age a painful name for them to have chosen seeing as homosexuals are branded that through slang. And c'mon, Pain of Salvation? That's cringe-worthy as well. I happen to think the Mars Volta is a good name; in an explanation (for those who don't know) the founders said volta is a word an Italian director used meaning constant change, and mars comes from both their obsession with sci-fi elements and as the god/ddess(? i forget which) of war...why not? Note: I enjoy all these bands. |

Probably except The Dayjob Orchestra all those names are great. Especially Godspeed You! Black Emperor. |
