Its so irritating with people that does not like a bands music and therefore can not be objective about them at all. I can accept that people does not like the mars volta or dream theater but i think its just stupid sl*ggering them off by saying the mars volta has the worst drummer, dream theater is the worst prog band and so on. Although you do not like a bands music you have to learn to be objective about it. Although i forexample does not like toto i surely can agree on that steve lukather is a talented guitarist even although i does not like his style i can understand why he is called good. Although there will always be people that does not manage to be objective or serious at all and just want to sl*gger off many of the more popular bands. dude, dream theater is my favorite band, and i can admit that the name "dream theater" is on the cheesy side of the spectrum. it takes nothing away from the music, its just a comment on their name.

"Amon" (or in some spellings "Ammon") is an ancient Egyptian God with the horns of a ram. "Düül" is a character from Turkish literature. And the "2" simply stems from the fact that the original Amon Düül split up, and those who left added the "2" to distinguish themselves from the others.

Yes, the name comes from that but I have to give my (I think) expert opinion on that. Let me explain: it's not that I'm an expert in male ejaculates (I only know about my own, at least since I was a teenager and did some competitions with friends), but that I'm a physiologist, with some expertise in reproductive physiology, and I can tell you for sure that the volume is very variable, but seldom bigger than 5 cc. I'm sure if most of my male fellow forum members were given a 10cc container and asked to fill it they would be really scared after looking at its size. Oh, by the way, size doesn't really matters...
So yes, those might be the most stupid band names ever...

The Flower Kings have by far the worst name...and they wonder why they have trouble attracting a wider audience? Tool is also in this day and age a painful name for them to have chosen seeing as homosexuals are branded that through slang. And c'mon, Pain of Salvation? That's cringe-worthy as well.
I happen to think the Mars Volta is a good name; in an explanation (for those who don't know) the founders said volta is a word an Italian director used meaning constant change, and mars comes from both their obsession with sci-fi elements and as the god/ddess(? i forget which) of war...why not?
Note: I enjoy all these bands.

I think Can is a very good name - it doesn't mean only the thing you store food in, but also "to be able to do something"; in Turkish it means "life" and "soul"; in Chinese - "feelings", "emotions" and "love". This multitude of positive meanings was the reason they adopted this name in the first place.
