Album of '08, I'm calling it already. I am in love with what I'm hearing so far. It's so Kayo Dot, and once again they make something drastically different from the last outing while becoming increasingly abstract at the same time.

This kind of avant-garde music is the future.

Don't quote me on this, as I do not know where this came from, but some people on other forums are widely speculative about the artwork, and they believe the picture below, or a variation of it, will be the artwork:

I think it's pretty awesome...

That photo has been on display here for a while. It says Toby's been working on it for "an album cover". It might just be BLD.

Indeed. I think it may be. Perhaps not though...

Either way, I think it's very nice. Although, because of the word "Blue" in the title, and all of the jazz presents, I was almost sure the artwork would be more, well...blue.

This artwork, whatever it may be for, is awesome though.

If you haven't heard, the new one (Blue Lambency Downward) features essentially NO metal...

Also, listen to the songs in the video........they give a good impression of the new album's likely lound.

Hahaha...Well.

I assure you, their sound is more subtle than ever, and the music is very exact and obviously orchestrated; yet it has a very distinctly jazzy, almost sinister feel to it all. I seriously think that, if this album delivers full-on the atmosphere the songs in the videos contains, we'll have ourselves a monumental winner....

Big%20smile  I'm not that much into metal, yet the last Kayo Dot album was a bit too mellow for me. I felt like they spent every song building up tension, but never released. It's as if they went out of their way to not play with each other simultaneously. I felt like i was being musically teased for the entire album. So, it's not that i don't dig the instrumentation they're using, but the some of the pieces on the last album felt a bit aimless and over stretched.

I disagree completely, but that's not why I'm responding. I'd just like to say that if what you just said summed up your view on the last album, I'm not so sure you'll enjoy this one...

Still, I hope for the best. And yes, DOWSING certainly wasn't as bombastic or climatic as CHOIRS, but it was still great :)

Should be an excellent release.  I hope you guys buy the album to support them, because recent interviews with Toby say that they have less than substantial monies.  But of course you buy all the albums you listen to!, hehe.

Dowsing Anemone has always been my favorite KD album, it just feels much more delicate and pleasing than their first album.  And the first album was also pretty great.  Their music obviously has a lot of atmosphere, last summer, I combined their song "Asylum on the Wall" with a BioShock video (BioShock is an amazing game, by the way, haha, with incredible atmosphere as well; the video's on youtube).  Yep.

I've seen that video actually. Bioshock is a very good game; I enjoyed it.

Apparently this is the "real" artwork. Same as before, just different color scheme:

Does anyone know anything about the preorder gift Mia talked about? I was about to preorder it from amazon, but there's no word there about any gift. Is there another source I can preorder from?
