The statement only proves that you don't know much about Tool (or more precisely: about how Tool relate to A Perfect Circle).

Very true. For the misinformed............APC is NOT a Tool side project. They were formed by former Tool guitar tech Billy Howerdel, who also writes most of the music.Maynard heard some of Billy's tunes and ASKED if he could sing for them, and he was actually Billy's second choice because Howerdel originally wanted a female singer.

Yeah I Know Tool's History and APC's I Bought Tools First EP Opiate the Day It Was Released and I wasn't very impressed, Then I heard Sober, And Prison Sex from Undertow which i though were good after that Ænima and Lateralus just weren't that great and now they still haven't matured with 10,000 Days.
I have every Tool LP and i can say i only like a handful of their songs. I think Maynard and Billy Howerdel should Keep A Perfect circle and dump Tool. Tool Just doesn't cut it, the vocals are sloppy and incoherent. He sings much better with A Perfect Circle and Billy's Guitar is also much better with APC.

If you like only a handful of Tool songs why do you bother buying their albums?

For The False hope they might mature into a better band instead of getting worse. I am glad i was able to download 10,000 Days this time for .90 cents. This time i didn't have to waste $15.00 on a bad CD. I have also sold all the Cd's I had from them.
I gave them a fair change. They Just Don't do it for me. Now OPETH are great they matured over their Albums.

That's cool,it's a matter of personal taste and opinion.
I also agree with you about Opeth, they have shown maturity and progression with each subsequent album, but I think that Tool have also.

Hold on a sec, you are saying they haven't matured over time even though their sound has been slowly drifting from metal to prog-metal, which is a lot more creative and embraces larger libraries of influences which touch on all the CD's that we've come to love here at PA? Not to mention, 10,000 days doesn't have a lot of crazy guitar nonsense on it, which is generally the mark of an immature metal band. If anything, you're looking for something which is never coming, which is for Tool to return to flat out metal. If you're not a fan of anything from Aenima on, then I'd say get off the tool train, they're going to do nothing but disappoint you from here on out with their "still-waiting-to-mature" sound.

After reading the arguments I have pretty much changed my point of view 180 degrees and now believe that the "10,000 days" I possess is not really the Tool album. We'll just wait until the 2nd of May and see, personally I can wait.

What? Oh my God... I just can't believe people think Tool would spend the time and money recording and promoting a decoy album, or that Maynard would put a 20 minute song about his mother on a decoy album.
This album has already been shipped and leaked again and again. God, I can't believe a few conspiracy theorists can gain so much ground in convincing people without any legitimate arguments.
I can't believe people have the balls to say Tool has not progressed. Danny is now using bells, tabla, bongo, electronic drumming, and special effects cymbals, and while that doesn't make the drumming more intricate, it adds tons of variety to it. Adam and Justin have gotten way more intricate with their playing, and Maynard is pulling tons of experimentation with his voice, which he had never really done before except on The Grudge. You can say you don't like the new album, but I doubt you can back up that they haven't changed or progressed. |
I think you've been had mate, I've just bought the album and theres no 20 minute epics on there, the longest songs are 11.

Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

Sure, but they only have permission to sell the files to Russian citizens. It's been discussed in Germany too, and it's only a matter of time until judges will say that there is enough public awareness of the illegality of such cross-border websites to even prosecute end users which purchase "stolen" content there. Just like people are prosecuted if they buy fake Rolex watches in these countries and bring them home.

I have concluded that 10,000 Days just doesn't cut it for me. It just fast, incoherent, and unstable.
I'll stick to APC, and Opeth. They mature with every Album.
