gentle giant is where it all started for so many, including me.interesting song selection but what about 'playing the game' , i lost my head' and 'meeting in this way...' there are just so many.

Proclamation isn't the best but it's highly underrated, it's a fantastic song! The song shows the bands ability to make funky riffs with simple harmony and also their ability to make complex and clever harmony that's almost makes your head hurt (but they are keeping it real so it sounds amazing), and also a combination of these two "formats"... A song of true genius. It has everything a prog song should have, nothing is missing. |
That one definitely is my favorite. Plus, the artsy middle section will offend anyone who's not really into prog. But it just makes the return of the funky theme all the more triumphant.

Hey dudes!!! I forgot one of my favourite! It's Why Not, from the debut album... I think that it's an excellent guitar solo, but it seems I'm the only one who appreciates a lot those guitar works...

Out of the songs listed I chose The Advent Of Panurge.

I voted The Runaway, since my REAL favorite (Way of Life) wasn't listed.
The breakdown in Way of Life is one of the most beautiful moments in ALL of music!

"Pantagruel’s Nativity". Why? 1. This song is very mysterious. 2. "Acquiring The Taste" is my favourite album of Gentle Giant. 3. This song was my first experience with Gentle Giant .

I voted for On Reflection, but I also love Boys in the Band and Three Friends, neither of which was an option. Just the Same, Knots and Experience are also up there, in my opinion.

On Reflection - love that song and other than Supertramp's output, one of the few prog songs my wife actually likes.

My girlfriend likes a quite a lot of prog, but no Gentle Giant. Well
except 'Wreck', and some songs from their debut. Which means, mainly
the GG songs thats not too GG'ish.
Peter Hammill/VdGG (not 'Gog/Magog' or 'Arrow'), Curved Air, italian
prog, most folkinspired stuff, all so called proto-prog and even Can
and Amon Düül II, we can enjoy together. So I'm happy.
