My two favourites, Boys in the Band, and Funny Ways aren't listed, so.....On Reflection.
Really, though, how do you choose from such a stellar catalog of material? If visual satisfaction were taken into account, Funny Ways from Giant on the Box would win for me. Seeing Kerry go from cello to keys to vibes, then back to cello during this ONE SONG is an experience unto itself.

Schooldays....
top 3 or 5 alltime favorite prog song. It 'hit' me hard first
time I heard it, and still upon each listen tickles the tear
ducts with the beauty of the middle section of that song.

Proclamation isn't the best but it's highly underrated, it's a fantastic song! The song shows the bands ability to make funky riffs with simple harmony and also their ability to make complex and clever harmony that's almost makes your head hurt (but they are keeping it real so it sounds amazing), and also a combination of these two "formats"... A song of true genius. It has everything a prog song should have, nothing is missing.

To have play the song more then once I have to say the So Sincere is
the song that hits me the most in the GG catalog. But it was hard to
choose between that and Knots/On reflection (Vocal driven song appeals
me very much!)

good call... the 'funky' keyboard riff just grabbed me. If I was
to list my fav GG songs Proclamation would be in the top 5.
The only thing missing is that GG didn't take a whole album side to get
to 'everything a prog song should have' hahahahha. The genius for
me with GG is the ability to pack SO MUCH into a 5 or 6 minute long
song.... and not sound like a complete and utter disaster to the
ear.

The clavinet riff in "Free Hand" just slays me, and it's
probably the best pissed off song about an ex-relationship
ever, even perhaps better than the many from Hammill. But "On
Reflection" is the conciliatory version, the other side of the
same coin if you will, and musically refined beyond belief.

In A Glass House is one of my favorite Gentle Giant songs, along with other songs like The Advent Of Panurge, Knots and Free Hand.
But I'll vote In A Glass House.

Well, guess this poll is not for me...
But then, GG has always been a difficult one for me. Have all there albums on LP, but still...
My favorite Studio GG albums are Octopus, Interview and especially The Missing Piece. (Guess, that's because I bought it when it was released and I saw the show in concert in 77, mjam!)
I miss 4(!) of my most favorites, to be precisely, where are:
Interview
Design
For Nobody
Memory Of Old Age ?

That one definitely is my favorite. Plus, the artsy middle section will offend anyone who's not really into prog. But it just makes the return of the funky theme all the more triumphant.

My girlfriend likes a quite a lot of prog, but no Gentle Giant. Well
except 'Wreck', and some songs from their debut. Which means, mainly
the GG songs thats not too GG'ish.
Peter Hammill/VdGG (not 'Gog/Magog' or 'Arrow'), Curved Air, italian
prog, most folkinspired stuff, all so called proto-prog and even Can
and Amon Düül II, we can enjoy together. So I'm happy.

There isn't a GG song I don't like but for today I think I'll go with JUST THE SAME.
Very accessible, great playing (no surprise there), lyrics that become
clearerin meaning each time you hear them, a great dreamy middle part
to the song takes you somewhere else completly, then a great finale.
Beautiful counterpoint gtr & keys.

cowbell, if you indeed give Gentle Giant a chance, be patient as you listen. The first few times I listened to Octopus, I thought it was dreadful. Next thing I knew, something "clicked" and I have been a huge fan of Gentle Giant ever since. There definitely is an "acquired taste" to their music. Having said that, I would recommend starting with Free Hand or Octopus.

I would say Octopus or Playing the fool, somewhat easier than In a Glass house. BTW i started with As the world from Echolyn . A great introduction to their music.
Edit: I just saw you're review of Suffocating so you already know everything about them, it's a great album isn't it? Well if you like Echolyn so much you'll love Gentle Giant.
