I'm glad you mentioned Glass Hammer's new album. It completely slipped my mind! I must say that if certain albums are on the list that harken back to the "glory days" of prog (ie. the 70s) like the VDGG and the Wobbler albums, then I certainly hope The Inconsolable Secret is not far behind.
BTW: I've been so caught up retracing the past, that I haven gotten any of the albums in the top 5.

BTW: I seem to be having trouble quoting members in this thread, which is why I haven't done so in awhile. The page loads, but the text isn't displayed.

Yeah, that's been happening to me too lately. What browser are you using Stonebeard? I'm on Firefox 1.0.7.

several people have mentioned Glass Hammer's Inconsolable Secret. I for
one thought long and hard about it as GH are one of my favourite modern
prog bands. However, I couldn't find it in my heart to find a place for
it in my top 5. I just think it's flawed in several ways. The second CD
is pretty extraneous, for me, and the epics on the first CD fall
a bit flat. They're just over ambitious and sound slightly feeble in
parts. The lyrics, too, are abominable, marring the listening
experience more than usual. It's good, just not great, certainly not in
the league of TMV's album (which just gets better and better) or
Porcupine Tree etc.
Close, but no cigar...

I was very disappointed with Pepper's Ghost Cyggie. It just lacks that indescribable "something". Its on my re-listen list for 2006 though.
As for Pallas' Dreams Of Men,well it starts out a killer and you think that it is going to be a classic album. Then it just flatlines...............

Although it was a bit of a departure from Immortal? and The Visitor, I feel it still is a strong album, not as strong as say... Believe or Side One.

The Best prog album of 2005 is The Fullness Of Time - Redemption! You must hear this!
Very good class are:
Neal Morse-?
Carptree-Man Made Machine
Tomas Bodin-I AM
Arena-Pepper`s Ghost
Allen/Lande-The Battle (melody power, not exactly prog)
Dream Theater-Octavarium
Riverside-Second Life Syndrome
Circus Maximus-The 1st Chapter
Magic Pie-Motions Of Desire

GREAT WORK, Tony!!!!
It's not what I thought but I was not involved during vote due to work schedule was really tight. I wonder that "Frances The Mute" is here, because I don't think it deserves. Their previous album is better. Deadwing? It's not the best album by PT - so I'm wondering why it's number one? And why NEAL MORSE "One" is not here?
WOBBLER deserves it. Yeah! VdGG is OK without disc 2 which is so boring.
BTW, I fully RESPECT the team decision with this TOP 5. Most importantly we start new thing this new year. Congrats!!!!

To make harmony out of discord requires great skill and I think that you have to understand a bit about music to appreciate that!

I miss...
Riverside - Second Life Syndrome
Shadow Gallery - Room V
Anyway, I think Ghost Reveries is the best of those 5, and Opeth's album or TMV one deserves more than Deadwing the number 1 position, although, of course, Deadwing must be in the top five.

They are worthy imho!
