Edit:
And I must say that the much much higher voting result (25) In Rock got 12 hours later looks to me most probably to be due to trolling - even I can't be entirely sure about that.

Lots of great albums. Zep II. Paranoid, Sad Wings, Master of Puppets, Sky Valley get my first 5 but I can go on.

Out of these I will go with Deep Purple in Rock, though I am not sure if I would count it as metal (?). I always liked the inspiration from classical music, f.e. in Jon Lord's organ intro to "Speed King", or some of Blackmore's guitar work. One of the more original hard rock bands for sure.

Alternately: Master of Puppets by Metallica (interesting musical structures).

I can understand that, it's on the borderline in my own point of view, but I find it at least very important for the development of Metal as style, plus it was considered as Metal in the 70's.
