Fascinating band. When they're at their best, they sound like a great European combo. And then, out of nowhere, the midwest crops up and makes everything really corny. Oh well.

I just listened to James Chance and the Contortions' "Buy", kind of like a demented white version of James Brown. Really funky beats with schizophrenic guitars, whaling saxophones in the background, and a chaotic, desperate, white sounding version of James Brown wailing over top of it all. Really odd and enjoyable.
