Still crazy on this album some 10 years after buying it (his other albums are as good as this one, and if you are into jazz-fusion don't miss the Electromagnets project) :

Currently listening to some excellent hard-rocking and sometimes less hard-rocking music :
Certainly one of their best and most eclectic albums.
and the question remains : Where have all the good times gone ?
D Lee Roth's vocals remind me a lot of Phil Lynott on the cover of Roy Orbison's "pretty woman"

Some good instrumental prog similar to Liquid Tension experiment and some King Crimson. Also fantastic guitar work courtesy of guitar wizard Ron Jarzombek, Trey Gunn and others.

Did you know that Bad Brains (the punk/hardcore band) played jazz-fusion in the sventies, under the name Mind Power, and one of the member knew by heart 'Romantic warrior'. And after that, some ignorant proggy will tell you that punk killed prog, pfff...

They are difficult to categorise, and perhaps too much of a pop band at times, but Radiohead has some of the most beautiful and unusual melodies of the day. At their best, they sound pretty and haunting. Then again, some of the tracks/songs like 'Creep' are truly awful. But I suppose someone who reaches the heights is allowed to reach the depths too.

^really? You even said that you weren't that fond of show-off Jazz Fusion from the 70's, right? In my opinion, The Dixie Dregs never really had good tunes, though everyone on board were very capable.

I didn't say I don't like jazz-fusion at all, I stated that after listening to a ton of jazz-fusion bands I currently like very few of them, and Dixie Dregs are among them. They are rather unique, in that they can switch from classical music to country-rock to southern rock or jazz-fusion.
Saying that they never really had good tunes is a bit harsh : I absolutely love all their songs, they all have something special. Did you ever hear "leprechaun promenade", "the bash", "broad street strut", or "ice cakes" ?

I know what you meant...
Anyway, what I meant was that they weren't really good composers, their playing is mainly the highlight in their compositions, in my opinion. And yes, I've listened to those songs, 'Ice Cakes' is one of my favorites tunes by them. But they're by no means a favorite fusion band of mine.
