I happen to like the remastered re-release version very much (especially for "The Raven").  That said, while the review doesn't say that much about the music, I think it's okay, and useful as a  warning about the re-release, but it could be written much better, with more detail, and with more clarity.

For instance, " While the original LP was a symphonic classic, Parsons' overdubs in the re-release are very unsatisfactory...."  Then detail the changes; then provide an overall review of the material.

I do agree that it is a symphonic Prog classic (even if the 'Project' is listed under Prog Related).

The original release was untitled, and this site lists it as "Tales..." and has the re-release cover,  How does one review when there is more than one version of an album?  If one is familiar with both, then a comparison is worthwhile.  Incidentally, the LP version has been released  on CD, so I've read, so one does have a choice.

4%20stars Came as a small surprise to me as I was not expecting much in terms of "my tastes" but this album is what he has done best since Bottom. But also , I think that this album revisits that one and this explaining that , it is probably why I like this one so much ( Is anybody following my rambling on?).

Well, that's not really what he said; he was saying that he prefers the original version of one song of the album before the guitar added 10 years later for the re-release; The phrase "Orson Wells go home" refers to a narration by him that was also added for the later version.
 
Anyway, I think you're right in that he put it on a way that someone who's not familiar with the album wouldn't know what the reviewer is talking about.

PARSONS PROJECT, ALAN — Anthology

4%20stars I have a question. On the APP Anthology CD that I got, each track begins 2 seconds early in the PREVIOUS track. Is this just the CD I have or were all CDs made like this? It IS an original, not a bootleg.

If I want to hear the beginning 2 seconds of track 14, I have to listen to the end of track 13.

HELP!

this review doesn't mention anything about the album, except that there's nothing special about it, and many other complains rather than describing the album itself

5%20stars I noticed that this album doesn't have a perfect "5.0" rating, so I decided to add my two cents and hopefully elevate it a little bit.

It's great. And that's just the beginning. And then it gets better. I'm struggling to write things that haven't been said a million times. Jesus Christ, the build-up. When a person puts this record on he or she is exposed to a bunch of little birds, some minor waterfall sounds, an ambience of gentle forest life.... all of a sudden, Howe and Squire offer something amazing: DIDDLY DIDDLY, DIDDLY DOO, DIDDLY DIDDLY DIDDLY DOO... this is the best way to put it in words, but believe me, it sounds so much better in music! :)

God dangit. If this album isn't perfect, if it isn't 5 stars, then I don't know what is. Maybe Foxtrot. I can't imagine a person finding faults with this album. It gives me faith in humanity that human beings could create something like this. Long long long live the YES.

 
And just because SEBTP is number one at the moment.

YES — Close to the Edge

Oh Yes, I like Yes. Oh Yes, Yes is one of the most infludential prog bands of the history of Rock 'n' Roll (Dumb word play). Oh Yes, Close to the Edge is one of the most breath-taking Prog albums ever, but I dare to say it's not their best. No, it's not Relayer or Fragile. it's Yes Album. But neverthless I decided that my first Yes review should be of this album. Maybe I just want to lift back to #1, who knows?

The title track begins with the sounds of singing birds and waterfall and quickly bursts with a classic Guitar/bass arsenal. Squire and Howe do magnificent job, but naturally we can't forget the rest of the band. Bruford gives his best performance of any Yes album, but I think that his best work is from the albums he made with King Crimson. And naturally Wakeman who gives very nice performances on keyboards. Nice Harpsichord playing especially. Last but not the least, Jon Anderson and his magnificent voice (Singing those obscure writings) will move you to a state of strange feelings. Weakest link on the album is the semi-acoustic And You and I. It is not bad by any means, but the weakest. Took me a bit to get into it. Slideguitar! Siberian Khatru is the hmm... less proggiest song, but I adore it. The Whole songs is a one big, fu**ing diamond (Sorry, but profanity just adds up the effect on the perfectinuum (That's not a word is it?) of the song in general). I love the part around 7 minutes.

Last minute Edit: I was just listening to the album while writing this (Siberian Khatru Harpsichord solo now) and I came to the conclusion that this IS the Best Yes Album ever. Funny isn't it?

I'm not suggesting the review be deleted. I think he should take out the line about Yes' position on the charts, for two reasons:

1) it sounds like it influenced his rating
2) it dates the review... that line makes no sense if the top 100 ever disappears.
