Two reviews of the same album by the same person:
LE ORME — CollageReview by AndreaSalvador
"Collage" is one of the Italian album better than all the times. It contains immortal songs with immense witnesses and not invading arrangiaments therefore. The production is strained to succeed in to rival with those offering discs, but personally it is a step under. But I prefer it therefore. 5 historical stars!

LE ORME — CollageReview by http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=7121 - MANDRAKEROOT (Andrea Salvador)
FROM TO VENICE (MARGHERA) TO THE HEAD OF PROG WORLD
In 1970 Le Orme went(on board of FIAT 238 van and in the full one of the spirit of Open Hair Festival) to the "Isle Of Wight Festival". For luck, because how it is read in the sleevenotes of "Antologia 1970- 1980" you are discovered where went the world music. You are had had some way to know of the protagonists of the festival and, returned in Italy and rhymed in three (Tagliapietra, Pagliuca and Dei Rossi) had the courage of to invent this masterpiece, or rather Masterpiece. That still today it would do the luck of bilion groups...
Already "Collage" is a big piece, halway between the Cream and the Prog more summon, so like "Era Inverno" that in possess a dramatic office than does not succeed ever to prevail. It is prevailed on "Cemento Armato" that to my warning is a denunciation on the destruction of the nature, supported from a very technical music. "Sguardo Verso Il Cielo" is a large Rock, immediate and yet not easy. To understand it (farewell for all of the album!) they a lot of listening want us and still you will not understand it! "Eclisse Totale", "Morte Di Un Fiore" ed "Immagini" are a lot of Psychedelic even if a lot of Prog. More near how much already produced, are nevertheless a fusion between Psychedelic Rock, Classic Music and very Acid Prog.
Large album, perhaps one of the Italian album most universal like music that ever I listened to.
For always yours, Mandrakeroot.

VOIVOD — Voivod Lives
Review by AndreaSalvador
"Voivod Lives" succeeds to being the better manifest in order celebrate the rebirth of the Trash Metal (for me if the cacophony were reformed would be better! Ps: them council to all the lovers of Progressive!) (if we want also the Sodom they are to demostrate them it! Their live of the concerts of Bankok... That slaughter house!) and moreover this LP succeeds to make to dream all we! It contains a such energy that is difficult not to make less than to love it!To me it appeals to because it is not an attempt to ahead carry a kind for someone dead man and buried but because it contains truly innovative music! And the omage to the Venom (inventors with the Motorhead of the Trash, if we want) it is extremely excellent! I conclude saying that the Voivid (therefore as the Speed Symphonic Trash Cacophony) plays classic music (but it does not feel here!) fine to if same (that is they make Progressive!) and for this council these Live LP to all the lovers of true music!

VOIVOD — Voivod Lives Review by http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=7121 - MANDRAKEROOT (Andrea Salvador)
THIS IS VOIVOD
Ok, for me the Voivod is not a Prog Metal band but alone a best and really innovative Trash band. Said this is a band interests determined the Progsters for the way to treat the songs that become Prog. But for the remainder is not Prog and have astonished to find these three geniuses in www.progarchives.com, even though the Prog is a musical family and not a genre.
Said this is a CD extremely interesting than finds the better moments in "Insect", "Nuclear War", "Planet Hell", "Negatron", "Project X", "Voivod" and in the cover of the Venom "In League With Satan", true explosion og very attractive Trash Prog and gotten angry.
I conclude say that this live is a good purchase that will not disappoint the palates until.
For always yours, Mandrakeroot.

LE ORME — In Concerto Review by AndreaSalvador
Creed not to never have listened to Progressive live with loads animal like this. The classic songs are faster that in studio (would otherwise not have been beautiful) and, although too much similar to the ELP, remains an album much Italian. I do not have other words in order to describe live that go listend and enjoyed until in bottom.

LE ORME — In Concerto Review by http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=7121 - MANDRAKEROOT (Andrea Salvador)
THE FIRST ITALIAN LIVE LP
This is the first live album of the Italian Prog. It it was recorded between 16 and 17 January 1974 at the Brancaccio Theater in Rome and is one of the more attractive live of the Prog (not only Italian!).
It is left with the unpublished "Truck Of Fire" that after a first very attractive part and Symphonic Hard Rock proposes the second part (recorded in a studio version for a 7" for the Charisma but ever published...) with English lyrics that, however, is too to the ELP!... It is continued with 4 classics. You are a lot more swift than in studio and actual for this a lot more effective putting in light the enormous class of the ours. In this section of the live LP is contained "Preludio A Era Inverno" that is an autonomous song and "Collage (Sigla)" that is the original tape played in Playback.
Important live album not only for the Italian music but for all of the Prog World.
For always yours, Mandrakeroot.

LE ORME — Antologia 1970-1980
Review by AndreaSalvador
Creed that like "Classic Yes" this "Antologia 1970-1980" it can be voted! Not that he is favorable... But this "Best Of..." succeeds more to being than a "Best Of..." and it becomes the definitive album for the 70's! After all, if you do not know Le Orme creed this CD is the better way in order to approach itself they. And you excuse me for the high ballot (than for the "Best Of..." me strange sound!) but sure masterpiece...

LE ORME — Antologia 1970-1980Review by http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=7121 - MANDRAKEROOT (Andrea Salvador)
THE DEFINITIVE ALBUM OF THE 70's
I consider "Antologia 1970- 1980" the definitive album of Le Orme of the 70's. Does the lofty quality not have some esclusion.
Regretted the best songs? I would say: "sguardo Verso Il Cielo", "Gioco Di Bimba", "Collage", "Storia O Leggenda", "Cemento Armato", "Felona", "Figure Di Cartone", "Una Dolcezza Nuova" and "Era Inverno" what also sending again to the style of Quatermass but more poetic, Symphonic and merry.
And this "Best Of..." is dedicate it to all the most nostalgic Proghead.
For always yours, Mandrakeroot.

HAWKWIND — Silver MachineReview by AndreaSalvador
"Space Rock"= Hawkwind! And it says the history to it, not one stupid writer of reviews of B sides! But this writer advises this to you compilation, because it is "crazy" and because if you then do not know them you will not be able more to succeed to forget this. "Silver Machine" is a compilation that it will blow up on the seat and that it will not make you to sleep the night. You are or little lovers of the science fiction!

HAWKWIND — Silver MachineReview by SYMPHONICAGE
The space band of the Prog is here with those. This "Best Of..." is in truth an LP to all of the effects, so is large. You listen to "Silver Machine (live)" (Brock/ Calvert), "Who's Gonna Win The War" (Brock) and "Levitation" (Brock) and say me what band are so... Extraterrestrials! And if then you will succeed to understand "Prelude" (Blake), Urban Guerilla (live)" (Brock/ Calvert) or "Nuclear Toy" (Broke" will not be able not to love the Hawkwind. And therefore it understood because them I devote so.

HAWKWIND — Silver MachineReview by http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=7121 - MANDRAKEROOT (Andrea Salvador)
MUSIC FOR CRAZY MAN
Certainty that to listen to the Hawkwind means to have an open mind...
Their musical proposal... It melt the brain! "Prelude", "Psychosis", "Ghost Dance" or "Nuclear Toy" are true songs? Better "Silver Machine", "Who's Gonna Win The War", "Levitation" or "Motorway City" that play like a crazy, space and Progressive version of the Motorhead...
"Silver Machine" is a very attractive compilation. And sincerely cheerful, crazy but exhaustive!!! (in all of the sense...)
For always yours, Mandrakeroot.

ANGRA — Holy LiveReview by AndreaSalvador
Angra is a band of Speed- Symphonic- Epic- Power- Prog- Metal (!) that regarding many other similar ones more is canted in favor of Symphonic- Speed- Progressive and for more (to the age...) with a singer outside from the common one! And this live confirmation all this. Part with "Crossing", little more than a intro when storm 6' 26" of "Nothing To Say", fantastic in the uneven rhytm of the intro part and then developed skillfully, with one great voice. "Z.I.T.O." not me power of attorney the same emotions, but it turns out equally winning. Here "Carolina IV" more Power- Speed in many parts, but at the same time Progressive (big Progressive)! "Unfinished Allegro" is an allegro interval with synthetized orchestra. Therefore here "Carry On" an Epic- Speed- Seeds Progressive that but ago to come the shivers! Andre Matos possesses one voice outside from the common one and according to me the other strong man are Confessori and Loureiro. In order to end... I consider this live truly good, not perfect (it is too much premature), but arrived in the best moment of ours. And therefore worthy to be in the best collections. Those of the conoisseurs.

ANGRA — Holy LiveReview by http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=7121 - MANDRAKEROOT (Andrea Salvador)
HOLY
Certainly premature... Nevertheless to have it of live so! Andre Matos is an extraordinary singers and drags the Angra towards a Prog Metal a lot near the Classic Symphonic Metal showing that Genesis, Raimbow and Yes are able to be mixed to the Maiden and to 80's Speed Metal Bands. Unfortunately here it hears itself that the Angra play with the popularity.
In this Ep hit "Nothing To Say" and the long one "Carolina IV" two masterpiece. in fact they are excited also after 1 million of listening. They have a rhytm Speed Metal but are totally Symphonic Prog! A step under "Unfinished Allegro" (short orchestral intermezzo), "Z.I.T.O." (that it does not convince me), "Carry On" too dry and "Crossing", in playback.
Although it is a premature live, is another CD to possess all of the costs.
For always yours, Mandrakeroot.

mailto:M@X - M@X can delete the lot in one fell swoop, rather than you Admin chaps deleting them one by one as they're reported. It would save everyone time and effort, and get rid of the distortion to the ratings that all these duplicate/triplicate reviews are having.

Review by
../Collaborators.asp?id=9601 - Tailscent
I've heard of people listening to something called "Muse" a long time ago, along with bands
such as HOOBASTANK and NIGHTWISH...I knew nothing of music outside some progrock
(Pink Floyd and IQ, mostly) and, gasp, Michael Jackson.
Nowadays I'm more up to date, and capable of handling louder and rougher music, to the
point where I can see why people like Nightwish. Muse, however... *shudders*
Not too long after I first discovered them, the single "Supermassive Black Hole" was
released and sampled on their website. That quick listen was more than enough to
convince me that Muse definately isn't my thing AT ALL. Poppy mainstream rock? C'mon,
this isn't proggy at all...sheesh. I'd sooner call EVANESCENCE a gothic metal band than
consider Muse part of the prog scene, yet here they are on ProgArchives, while
Evanescence and a load of other worthy prog bands are missing. I fail to understand.
No, I'm not even going to try Muse out. Not their latest album, not their earlier work. I'm
happy enough not knowing, thanks.

BIGELF — Closer to Doom (10 track version)
Review by sinkadotentree (john davie)
This is a good record, but there something about vocals that sound like the BEATLES,fronting a band that sounds like a BLACK SABBATH,DEEP PURPLE hybrid that just doesn't work for me.Some tracks like "crazy","closer to doom"and "theme one"do sound great though. On the first song "change",the vocalist sounds just like LENNY KRAVITZ,i swear if i didn't know it was BIGELF i would say i was listening to a LENNY KRAVITZ record! .On the plus side,i love the hammond organ, mellotron, and guitar riffs.I can see why this band would be a favourite of a lot of people, they have a hard edged sound with good vocals.Just doesn't do it for me.

So I saw Genesis in 1973 and was blown away. My good buddy had tickets for them at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C., and I had never heard any of their music. On the first song when Gabriel come onstage in his costume for "Watcher of the Skies", I knew this was a kick-ass band. So when GTR came around some many years later, and also many years after Hackett left Genesis, I was eager. I lost that CD when my home burned down and the only CD available when I went to replace it was the King Biscuit Flour Hour, which sucks compared to the studio album (plus "The Hunter" isn't on that Flour Hour CD). Anyway, I'll will always admire Steve Hackett for his contributions to Genesis, for it was his fantastic guitar work that was the basis of my love of their music.

I'm new to the review game, so bear with me as I try this on for size. I've been listening to progressive music for 20+ years & this cd is as good as prog metal gets. I'm listening to it as I write this & I keep turning it up!! The songs blend into one another effortlessly. Although most songs are over 7 minutes long, I never wanted to skip any of them. PLAY IT LOUD!! ISIS should continue to make cds like this! Highly recommended!!

It has its moments, but falls short of the classics panopticon or Oceanic. Its still a great album with classic moments, but misses to capture the grinding poetic intensity found numerously on their previous albums.
Still a great album, but didnt leave me breathless like Pan. and Ocean.

Even coming from the same linguistic background as he does, I find it very hard to understand, so you can imagine what other people can make of it.

I've never been quite a big fan of Pink Floyd and still I find Gilmour's vocals irritating. A lot of delight from prog fans made me give this album more chances than it really deserves. A complete waste of time.

i'll go straight to the point. my rating is 1. not that the sound suck but in my perception of
progressive metal, this album doesn't even belong to the progressive metal genre, and so
does TOOL. their not even technical nor melodic but, yes they have talent but their music
range is out of bounds in this category. comparing it to progressive metal gods such as
dream theater, symphonyx, opeth or even riverside... this album is too commercial to be
here.
just my opinion. peace.

never completely heard the album but its three stars....
GENESIS — Selling England By The Pound
Review by tarkuswright (Jim Carlton)
Well, a strange album… There’s not doubt it’s good, but I sincerely expected another masterpiece from Genesis, and THIS IS NOT. I feel a lack of something inexplicable, a lack of pure prog. This is the first Genesis’s work in which we can hear an approaching to a catchier pop. They left the alternative tune we liked so much, to do something different and I thought it's not so beautiful. And so I don’t like The Battle of Epping Forest and More Fool Me, they sound like another group’s songs, after the excellent Foxtrot; the only song that worth to be called Genesis’s are Dancing With The Moonlight Knight, Firth of Fifth and maybe I Know What I Like In Your Wardrobe, a simple pop song. It’s good the intro of Cinema Show, but the verses and choruses are not as good as catchy… THIS ALBUM IS THE GENESIS’S ONE I BOUGHT AND I NEVER HEARD COMPLETELY!!! I don’t feel to recommend it, but I know a lot of people like it……

Maybe, the reviewer means that he never heard the album completely at one sitting? Still, he mentions six out of eight songs from the album, which is pretty much almost the entire album. And I don't think there are any problems with argumentation.

A smart way to lower Genesis ratings while raving about Dark Side of the Moon:
GENESIS — Selling England By The PoundReview by psychospaces
Many words have been written, many ears have been heard... since 1973 until today, the music industry has been touched by this record, in any aspect of it, from music to design, there is no surprise that this has been the only record to be featured 3 times in an anniversary edition, and two times has been redesigned the cover and the inner art.
The music is fantastic, at least 10 million plus, persons have heard this album at least once, and at least 2 million love it, this is not a regular album, is the perfect blend in between concept and comercial, the perfect place to start and end, the neutral place in music to hear how good a band can be mixing popular sounds with complex rhythms and ideas. Is not a common record, because is like a long song, even if the singles and pieces by their own are perfectly intense by themselves, but, is a story, a moment, a thought, watching this thing in a live situation is to fly directly to the moon and beyond, the force of the album breaks all of the statements. That's why this is a masterpiece, beacuse they knew at that time that "time" & "money" were a good couple, even facing an "eclipse" through a "breathe" in "any colour you like", in between "us and them".

What say more!!!
n 1975 Pink Floyd was very special. They were popular enough to be on the radio, but
still out there enough to write Shine on You Crazy Diamond. The theme of insanity as
the sane outlet to an insane world is central to the classic era of progressive rock.
Waters tackles it here better than most with this story of Syd Barrett's descent into
insanity. Waters uses it to outline a critique of the burgoening music conglomeration
that was not only stifling artistic growth, but cultural growth in the process. This
critique would become the basis of The Wall, which in many ways is a continuation of
this album and its subsequent Animals.

RADIOHEAD — Ok Computer
Review by jrfernan
Well, what can I say! greenback pretty much said it all in his/her review:
"I think it is a music for people who like to live forever with messy desperate humors, like the untidiness in an apartment of a bunch of marginal, unemployed pot smokers, who completely have no sense of structure and elegance! "
LOL!!!!!!!
That has to be one of the funniest things I have EVER heard or read! The sad thing is that it's probably not far off from being the absolute truth.
I won't argue whether OK Computer, or Radiohead, deserves to be categorized as prog or not. From the looks of it, anything can fit into the prog category these days. I will say this though: this record epitomizes the current state of world affairs and the decadence of the arts.
Whenever I listen to Radiohead's music ONE vision comes to mind: MISERY.
I understand that there is a place for dark music. There always has been and there always will be. But the problem I have with OK Computer is that it's terribly composed and executed. Radiohead sound like a bunch of school kids learning their instruments, TOGETHER! I say this in all seriousness: I have NO DOUBT that my 10 year old son(who's a flautist) and a couple of his school mates can composed MUCH more interesting music than any of the garbage on OKC.
I sit here in disbelief at how waste like this can sell millions of copies, yet IQ cannot make a living from their music! IQ band members have to have day jobs, yet Radiohead make it onto Jay Leno! AMAZING is an understatement.
I place Radiohead into the same exact category as Boards of Canada. Both are despicably OVERRATED and cater to dope heads and adolescents. They are both dark and boring, while offering very little originality. Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground had pioneered this style of "Heroin Grunge" approximately 30 years ago. In the case of the VU the band members had "some" sense of compositional structure and progression, but Radiohead takes this style to a cheaper, darker and deeper pit.
I'ts sad that progarchives only allows a minimum of one star.

Just some thoughts about two reviewers – progmanc and vangelis02:
both appear close to each other, sometimes the same day and even the same hour;
both give almost the same (or very similar) valuation of albums;
both have rated all top three Pink Floyd albums with 5 stars;
both gave less favourable valuation for top three Yes albums;
both gave even less favourable valuation for top Genesis albums;
as if agreed, both gave only 2 stars for “Lamb lies…”;
but both didn’t rate Rush, King Crimson, Marillion or DT.
Don’t you think they are one person duplicating (with some slight variations) reviews? And don’t you think all of them should be deleted?

This is it. This is THE album of the ages. I don't need to say it was the beginning of progressive rock, so I don't know why I wasted my time typing that. What I do need to say, though, is that it is the closest to perfection any music has achieved, without being "The Musical Box" by Genesis, IMO. This was the album that got me into progressive rock, and still remains my favorite. I first rented it at the library and walked home listening to it on a beautiful rainy night. When I returned it to the library, I wanted to buy it, but I couldn't find it in any stores. It was enough to drive a man INSANE!!! And it nearly did, until I resorted to buying it for 25 American bucks from an English website. Later on in my life (perhaps a month), I saw it in EVERY BLOODY STORE I WENT INTO FOR 15 BUCKS!!! (Excuse the word bloody; I wish I was English) Whatever, the earlier the better, I say (although it was 10 bucks down the drain, so maybe I don't say that). Now, onto my review, which is what I know you came here for. All I need to say is that IMO Epitaph is the best song and liking Moonchild takes a bit of imagination. I always imagine I'm in a weird greenhouse with extremely white light covering the windows and a bunch of strange invention from perhaps a mad scientist, an artist, or a combination of the two. The rest of the album evokes dark, foggy catacombs with a navy blue tint in my mind. It reminds me of E.A. Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado" for some reason. It may be the cover, which is the greatest cover I've ever seen. Michael Giles is definitely the best drummer I've ever heard. No other drumming gives me as much feeling as his does. In a word, this album is a masterpiece, although I don't like "21st Century Schizoid Man" as much as the others. Greatest album of all-time.
This Is not a very good review but I happen to like it because the reviewer here describes the pictures that come into his mind while listening to it. The question is what do we do in those cases? This album for example has around 50 reviews from prog reviewers so there is no case this review will be read by many but reviews like this:
( http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=43057 - http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=43057 ) should be seleted in my opinion.
This is one of the greatest albums I have ever listened to, I may be biased considering I love jazz. Greg Lake's vocals and basslines make me want to die. Everything has already been said about this album. Epitaph is substantial proof that talent does not drown emotion, and anyone who disagrees is confused.

I just want to point out that the latest two King Crimson - Discipline reviews have something out of the subject of a music reviewing and of a natural interest.
The first, from bobesh, treats the accent of both a purist and a view angry enough to be unsubstantial.
The second, from startibartfast, has a paragraph that is a response to bobesh's negative view. Going only afterwards normal.
Obviously, I'm bothered by the second review's opening phrase more.
--
Both aren't real problems, still perhaps a thought on this?
(or are them just not my particular cup of tea?)

This coming from a fan, who loves plenty of Floyd albums...This is disgraceful. If the entire band was into producing this, and thought it was successful, I have lost a TON of respect. I always considered them overrated, but now I am almost baffled at the fact that this album, let alone the movie, is so raved about. Comfortably Numb is a great song, but it is hard to find much else. The Final Cut is far superior to this. This movie had me talking to myself in disgust while watching it...my hand on my chin in absolute shock at how miserable a movie could possibly be. I still am stunned!! Wow, wow, wow! I need to go put on animals or something to try and redeem the greatness I once saw in some Floyd stuff...
2) Give me a break Crimson fans! This here has to be one of the most dissapointing albums i have ever purchased. I mean, I love king crimson, i think they have written some great stuff, but this? Terrible. Cirkus builds you up to a potentially good corus, and hits you with this flat horn eerie annoying sound, like whoa, is every song like this!??! And ofcourse, they mostly are, track 1-3 are miserable, not to say uninspired tracks, but more inspired by crappy sound. Lady of the dancing water is simple, and nice, anyone couldve written it, its no Cadence and Cascade by any means. Lizard...hahaha, wow, WHY DID THEY DO THIS!!!!?!?!? I still, to this day, have no idea why this song is 23 minutes long. The first part of this song is, to say the LEAST, amazing. Jon andersons vocals and the melody struck me so hard, I can safely say it is one of if not THE best crimson song, or part of a song, ever. Sadly, it should have ended after the first 4 and a half minutes...but not, it drags on for another 20 minutes. Those 20 minutes of lizard are terrible, annoying horns going off, no structure WHAT SO EVER. How do you go from jon andersons first amazing part to thiS!!??! Miserable album, NOTHING like wake or court, which are both AMAZING. I would recommend it JUST for lizard, it is a must hear, the first few minutes at most. Very dissapointed, as everyone here gives it 5 stars and the first thing they say is "Its very hard to get into", yeah, its not 5 stars then, most people here can HEAR great music their first listen, it doesnt need to be driven into you. Just because you listen to the first 3 tracks fourty times that doesnt make them suddenly good, your just getting used to the terribleness. 5 songs, 3 are bad, 1 is good, 1 is 1/5 phenominal. Check it out if you need to.
3) An interesting album, of which i suppose is on the archives because of me :) cool!! The version of pinball wizard on here is pretty awesome actually and has alot of power in it...i love it. The rest of the album is pretty much standard 60's rock, nothing too great, really a mediocre album...but the pinball wizard cover is a must listen for fans of The
4) Overall, a good album. Cadence and Cascade is unbelievable, and probably the best crimson song next to lizard. Wake of poseidon is also amazing, very court like. Not much to say about this album, it is well structured, comes out pretty good, some terrible songs mixed in the bag that just shouldnt exist (as is always true with crimson) but overall a good package. BUY THIS ALBUM for cadence and cascade, it is unfriggenbelieveable. That is the highlight, everything else is decent next to it, wake is best also. Good stuff, 3/5

SAGA — The Pleasure & The Pain Review by jljimenezs30
ONCE AGAIN A LOW POINT , that's the problem with Saga, they take you to heaven and then you fall from the highest... no much to say, is better than throwing shapes and wildest dreams of course, but you and me can make better music than that... only how do you feel could make a kind of good song....

Someone tell this guy to use some punctuation!
the people that dont give 5 stars to these work its not just with this its not like
leftoverture but dust in the wind is a extraordinaire theme because its not too long or
complicated but is very very beautiful and the letter is very ok.

I agree to that. Also, some of these reviews lack information about the album in question.

../Progressive_rock_discography_CD.asp?cd_id=12164 - MUSE — Black Holes And Revelations Review by ../Collaborators.asp?id=9601 - Tailscent
I've heard of people listening to something called "Muse" a long time ago, along with bands such as HOOBASTANK and NIGHTWISH...I knew nothing of music outside some progrock (Pink Floyd and IQ, mostly) and, gasp, Michael Jackson.
Nowadays I'm more up to date, and capable of handling louder and rougher music, to the point where I can see why people like Nightwish. Muse, however... *shudders*
Not too long after I first discovered them, the single "Supermassive Black Hole" was released and sampled on their website. That quick listen was more than enough to convince me that Muse definately isn't my thing AT ALL. Poppy mainstream rock? C'mon, this isn't proggy at all...sheesh. I'd sooner call EVANESCENCE a gothic metal band than consider Muse part of the prog scene, yet here they are on ProgArchives, while Evanescence and a load of other worthy prog bands are missing. I fail to understand.
No, I'm not even going to try Muse out. Not their latest album, not their earlier work. I'm happy enough not knowing, thanks.
Yours, Tailscent

Don't worry, bub, it's dealt with.
I still won't change my opinion and Muse, but I'm fine with it having been deleted. *shrugs*

../Progressive_rock_discography_CD.asp?cd_id=7515 - DREAM THEATER — Octavarium
Review by
../Collaborators.asp?id=10518 - surrounded23
i'll be honest with you. i cant understand this: "i have read 20 reviews and i hear 20
different opinions, not so much about the album but about the way you, the listeners, are
attracted to dream theater. one guy wants dream theater like that, the other like that
etc..Why is that happening? i, personaly, love the basis of their music, the format. i dont
care if octavarium should be characterized as "prog" or not.Does it matter? For God's
shake!you shouldnt be cared about "categories".i think that prog, in your language, among
others means for open-minded. Now.. i love every note that comes out from this
band.EVERY NOTE. I think nothing will dissapoint me in the future also. I suggest that to
some prog listeners who hate or love dream theater. You should always think what the
band wants to achieve and treat it like that! You people think that if i dont like this, then it
doesnt worth!tell me that you dont like octavarium, that it doesnt express you: i
understand!i am with you!But dont tell me non-sense like "lack of
inspiration", "after "scenes" they play crap" or "they should be back in "awake" era sound
(!!!!!i cant believe what i hear). the band knows more than anyone where it goes and it
f.....goes excellent. you should not care also which of their album is their best!what is this?
some kind of contest? is it an olympic sport e.g. "who jumped further"? its just music!so do
not fill yourself with such anticipations cause there is no sense at all.the band itself doesnt
care to try prove something to anyone. As for Octavarium, its their most mature work..its
dynamic, modern and diverse..
