But as you know Anton, I don't view the government as this rabid bear (as llama put it) that is trampling around bent on attacking and killing everything.
I know, freedom is doing what you want. So a law (and thus the government) is by nature a restriction on freedom. But god damn it, I simply don't think the government as an evil entity like you guys.
That simple. Which is why I say you can be a bit black and white. I admire how dedicated you are to your beliefs, but because of it, it's all or nothing. So in theory, yeah...the government's very existence is the negation of freedom but I try to be realistic, most people are fine with that because they realize that's a bit extreme.Or they just don't care. I'm the former.

I am a Kiva lender. The website goes through great lengths to inform you of the risk each possible recipient of your microloan entails.
The recipient of my loan is currently in default. I'm going to have to go to Africa soon.
Seriously, the idea is that you may get your money back, or the recipient's business doesn't do so hot and you don't get your money back. If you get your money back, you can re-lend it again. You don't get interest, so one may as well think of it more as a charity, only there's a possibility you get your "donation" back and that you've still helped people.

So Rob, you'd be potentially on board for my suggestion of microloaning as a replacement (partially) of welfare? I need to gauge the internet popularity for when I start my Congressional run in a year or 2. It's an idea I like a lot and is realistic. Never had the stones to get myself to talk about replacing welfare though Also I suppose none of yall would be into this since it involved government, but this guy at work was talking about how Spain has a national lottery. I guess like the power ball/mega millions/ whatever but it'd be all 50 states. Let's say it was done over a period of time (few months, year whatever) Would rake in a lot of money for the guvment, and more people would win! May be a smaller jackpot due to that but if you win a million or two dollars for nothing who's gunna complain?

| Well, part of what makes microlending useful overseas is the matter of differences in currency. It'd be hard to start a successful business in the US now with under $1000.
More than that is the differences in culture, though. I don't think microlending replacing welfare here now would do any good. That's because a great number of people here are looking for jobs and aren't looking /don't have the skills to start a business. And there's nothing wrong with that. Microlending here would bury people in debt.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was feasable large scale in a developed country. Still need to mull it over though. Not that it matters, the communist revolution is around the corner anyway, I hope you guys realize.

I don't know if this is what you meant Rob, but I think differences in cost of living vs. actual currency exchange rates.

| I have $37 to my name for 20 days yet I am a Conservative Libertarian.
Actually, life isn't so bad. My wife got a Lowe's gift card for Christmas, so she is painting our home the way she wants (thank God it's a color I really like).
My daughter is being a disobedient now but she's only 14 months. Still, some tough love may be in order.
My son is still my son- beyond my understanding of how human psychology works.
And I have Milwaukee's Best, so I'm okay.
How are you?

Yeah 14 months, can't say it's too bad really. Wait until she's 14 years old and starts purposely being a pain in your ass! Glad to hear man. I've been alright. Working for the man ironically. That's been about it. Making da money.
