Pat, Chris and I will have a semen in pants party.
We get drunk and we semen-ate in each other's pants.

Looks like a good name for a post rock song Wink (a long statement that's barely comprehensible)

The homo factor of this thread has been upped considerably.

Toe's debut is one of my favorite post rock math rock blends! A masterpiece for sure, probably should get around to reviewing it at some point.

OK, so I've now listened to the new Pelican maybe 3 times.  It's pretty good overall, but still leaning toward mediocre.  Strung Up From the Sky is great, and Ephemeral is pretty great too, but the rest don't really stand out yet.  I really miss the doom.  They just sound like decent instrumental hard rock... there's just not much of an edge anymore.

HOWEVER,  WHYYYY don't they have more songs like Final Breath?  That song is fantastic!  Simple, super-slow, mellowed-out doom that still feels epic.  A+ for this song alone.

Anyone else like the version of "Ephemeral" on its self titled EP way more? The new version feels less layered and symphonic.  And i gotta agree with you Chris, about the music overall sounding less like post rock/metal

Even though i was kinda disappointed; just like with the Ephemeral EP, the new album atleast has one work of beauty imo, and that's all i need to feel that a purchase is justified. I'm still really diggin' Strung Up From the Sky, and it's pretty much influenced me enough to pre-order

I actually feel kind of bad for the band after reading all the nasty comments on their last.fm and myspace pages. Their album isn't even out yet and people are already tearing their innocent expressions apart

I really like the new album, and I'm sick of all the Pelican bashing too. It's pretty annoying. Jesus, the drumming is toned down so much, probably due to the complaints, and people bash Larry some more. Lose lose situation.

NICE.

Mono is one of the best live bands I've ever seen.  I'd say take some earplugs, but hell, you can handle it.
When I saw them in a tiny club, people were literally on the floor holding their ears it was so loud.

I'm going to that show next saturday. Thanks Chris for that little review, now I'm super stoked. I dont know if you guys will know this, but should I preorder tickets?

Also, going back to the basics, listening to some Saxon shore... Very therapeutic for post swim practice collapses.
