Hey Chris! Just wanted to let you know that i'm really impressed with
your work. I remember liking the old stuff with that other guitarist as
well, but i like your current sounds even more. (I listened to your
play list a few times)
Your new band kinda reminds me of "Enablers", (not to try and label
your essence ) which for my tastes, is a beautiful thing.

I remember seeing them live with a friend that plays the drums quite
frequently; between Pelican and Tombs he was looking at me like "Wtf
have you gotten me into...".
Honestly though, i prefer the sluggy sloppiness of Bryan than the
sloppiness of most Black Metal drummers that just hammer on with no
expressions of dynamic grace.

Thanks man!
I should probably sendspace the whole record (6 songs total) for you guys at some point. I was going to wait until it was released, but we seem to be hung up on cover art. I'll probably start a proper thread in the correct section once it's fully released, but the songs are mastered and ready so if you're interested let me know!
I've never heard Enablers, but I'll check it out. We have a tough time describing ourselves as well. The best we've come up with so far is either "heavy metal Shipping News" or "somewhere between Sonic Youth and Isis", neither of which is particularly accurate.

Bryan is one of my favorite parts of the group. I kind of like his looser style of drumming, IMO regardless if it's "sloppy" or not, I think it adds lots of personality to the music.

New Pelican song called An inch above sand. A little more in the vein of CoE, but still significantly darker. Their guitar tone is considerably heaier than ever before!
LOL triple post!

^ Hell yeah; i'm gonna be rooting for the "Part the Second" all year, because i believe this will be the first time that a "post rock" album (if you can even call "Part the Second" post rock) could stand as #1 in an annual top 100 for the whole year. And on top of "Part the Second" greatness, it's so exciting when i think that, even though this year is coming to an end, there are still a few releases (these monsters, pelican, and do make say think) that i'm predicting could all be in (or even form) my personal top 3 of the year. Sooo much beautiful music forged this year.

I remember dling "An Inch Above Sand" in a Split with Pelican and some
other band a couple months ago; although i won't say anything negative
about it, that style of Pelican just isn't for me

Pelican= boring band that is derivative of Neurosis, but not as good. I saw them live and was put to sleep.

Hey, it's an OPINION. Not fact. hence, not debatable or worthy of taking offense over. I find Pelican boring and derivative. sue me. What's with the "outsider" comment? is that because I have NOT been duped by the musical atrocity that is Pelican? Sorry, I don't believe in belonging to retarded cults. also, I think it is beyond ironic that your poster name is Dim. as in, what you are mentally.... just kidding. I'm not mad. but there is no need to get pushy about someone else's opinion. What you are surprised that someone does not worship a band that you may? I find that common place bands such as Pelican are just boring. heavy pop hogwash. no surprises. no novelty. been done thousands of times before, and much better. I don't need a ton of versions of the same thing with a new package. I want the best; which Pelican is not.

there's no reason for anybody on either side to get worked up over opinions. If you like Pelican, prog out with your log out.... more power to ya. enjoy them. I simply don't. No reason to chastise me.... jeez maybe I should just refrain from stating opinions that are in opposition to any popular opinions. Sorry. I'm out on a limb apparently. Far from popularity and pop (as it were).
