What do you guys think of The Oceans Aeolian? It's really hardcore influenced, but the more I listen to it, the crazier it becomes and the more I grow to love it. Songs like City in the Sea and Swoon are sheer audible power.

I love everything The Ocean Collective does.Their debut Fluxion is even more hardcore influenced than Aeolian.Precambrian is my favorite though, they simply get better with each subsequent album.

Agreed, Precambrians second disc is a masterpiece. My copy of Fluxion sucks, the song order is all messed up, and god damn itunes wont let me fix it. Do any of you have the new remastered version of it?

BTW, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but their lead singer, the one with that incredible growl quit a couple months ago.

So I sucked up my gayness, and got some converge, considering I'm gonna see them with mastodon in November.

What do we think of Eluvium?

Eluvium is nice. I need to catch up a bit, though. Last Eluvium album I heard was Talk Amongst the Trees. Apparently the latest one is excellent.

I think Copia is really good. Though that's all I've heard besides the split done with Jesu which contains an even cooler composition than anything on Copia.

I have Copia and Lambent material. Copia is a little too classical influenced for me, but Lambent material is excellent, it's been the soundtrack to my sleep for the last couple of nights.

The ambient band? They're not bad i suppose, although i can't help but feel that they need more of something.

Yeah Mastodon and Converge together can't ask for much of a better show than that.

Well, like, I could, but, you know, it wouldn't be feasible at all.

I hope to go to this show. It should be awesome. I'm also somewhat interested in seeing how the Dethklok portion of the show will be.

I think all of you should come down to Austin for the Mastodon converge show. We can call it a birthday present considering it's two days before my birthday Big smile I'm also interested in how hard I'll laugh for the dethklok portion. I'm not big on stoner rock though, is high on fire better than most?

Seriously, don't underestimate Dethklok.Saw them last year and they were amazing.Brendan Small is a very skilled musician, and you had Mike Keneally on guitar,Bryan Beller on bass and Gene Hoglan on drums. That is some serious musical talent

Theres been a lot of buzz surrounding High On Fire for a couple of years now and I dont know why. They are in the doom metal realm but I wouldnt consider them stoner rock due to a lack of stoner grooves and they rely on up tempo rythms. The vocals are gruff and similar to Brent from Mastadon's older, more aggressive vocals. Musically they are not dissimialrr from old Mastadon but not nearly as adventurous and more straight forward. Some people are reminded of Motorhead but I don't hear it. Matt Pike the singer/guitar player was in the seminal stoner rock band Sleep but this bears no resemblance. I will also be at the Dethklok show ad can't frickin wait!

You're talking about the Keneally that toured with Frank Zappa? Because that dude's amazing.

Yeah, but Keneally played with Zappa early in his career. He has a bunch of superb, quirky solo albums and has collaborated with a number of artists(Kevin Gilbert for example) over the years.

I happen to think he is one of the most underrated guitarists in music.

^ I agree that is quite underrated. I'm not a big fan of the composing on his solo albums, although i do think he's a phenomenal guitar player.

Btw i just noticed that the Ahleuchatistas are coming out with a new album next month:

I am a bit worried that they apparently have gotten a new percussionist.

Thanks for adding the albums to Fall of Efrafa's discography Igor. After I added them I had some computer problems.

I now have the whole trilogy of albums and these guys are one of my favorite new discoveries in this sub-genre.

they are unbelieveably amazing. I'd rate all of their albums with 5 stars (and "Elil" with 6 )
