1st listen to Shadow Circus' Whispers and Screams. It begins with a 7-song 30+ minute interpretation of Stephen King's The Stand. This is one of my absolute favorite books; one of the very few that I enjoyed enough to read twice. The 6-hour mini-series wasn't too bad either, although as with any Hollywood interpretation of a novel, you have to take it with a grain of salt. So far musically, I am enjoying this. I will have to sit down with the lyrics book soon to see how well they tell the story. Pretty difficuly breaking down a 1200 page book into 30 minutes.

Every final should take 15 minutes or less like my music theory final just took. It was epic.

I still haven't read the Stand yet, though it's been recommended to me several times. I think my next reading venture will be one to read the Dune series the whole way through. Last time I made it about 2/3 of the way through God Emperor and sort of just stopped out of nowhere.

I read much of The Stand on a very long scenic train ride through the Appalachian Mountains.

I read the first 3 books from the Dark Tower series a number of years ago, but I have not read the rest. I was in a used book store in Ohio a couple of months ago, and they had the other 4 books, so I bought them all, but I haven't gotten around to reading them yet. I just don't read for pleasure like I used to in my days before college and work. I am afraid that I might have to re-read the first 3 books before I start on the other 4, since it was so long ago when I read the first three.
His books with Peter Straub, "The Talisman" and "The Black House", are also really good. "The Talisman" is a fantasy adventure similar to the Dark Tower series, instead of the various horror books that Stephen King usually writes.

Quick poll.
What should I listen to next?
All the World's a Stage or Octavarium?
I can't decide.

If the first one's not Dream Theater, I recommend it. If I'm right it's a Rush album, correct?

I like reading books, but I'm picky. I was mainly just commenting on the fact that we hardly ever discuss books in here, and that music is better.

You know my pick. I do enjoy both, however.

Since I can't seem to get into Dream Theater at all I'm going to stick with my original Rush vote.
