Only half the people who said they would come help move showed up...... we got it done though (on Saturday), and my legs have only just stopped hurting.
The apartment is spacious and probably has the best view of any unit here. Lots of natural light (available light ).
Also, I talked my wife into giving me the WHOLE dining room for my workstation. We don't have a place to eat, but so what! We only spend 20 minutes at the table anyway! So it's a waste of space if you ask me.
My only complaint really with the place is that the "new cabinets" we were supposed to get are just the old cabinets repainted, and it's the ugliest brown I've ever seen. They aren't finished either- the workers have to put the cabinet doors on which I'm told are quite nice (they better be ).
But something about moving makes me feel like a "new man." I've already lost two pounds.
Also, I bought a case of Samuel Adams's Holiday Collection...mmm Cranberry Lambic...can't wait for that tonight!

Isn't Natural Light kind of a swill beer? The Sam Adams sounds interesting.
What did you end up doing with the beer in your fridge? Did you drink it all? Share with the movers? Or move them?

Great question!
I only managed to drink half. So I wrapped each of them in newspaper and stored them in a box full of computer cables and other wires. I transported the box personally and no one was the wiser.

I once wrote a little ditty called "Fast Food Restaurant."
It was about the experience of living next door to a place called Wiener Works for the first three years of our marriage. We could hear people shouting at the drive thru order box and then the order being read back to the person. This was something we had to learn to deal with.
The chorus started out, "We live next door to a fast food restaurant," and then I recorded the next line, "Would you like fries with that?" through a distortion box.

Surprisingly enough, a Squier VM Jazz fretless that I picked up used. I've tried others of the same model, the various Fender fretless jazz basses, etc. and I haven't found anything else that plays like it and sounds like it. Whoever had it before me set it up basically perfectly for my tastes, except for the strings, which I've figured out on my own (Swing '66s).
I've got other basses as well (a fretted 4-string Ibanez P-bass and a no-name fretted 6-string and an upright bass), but this one gets about 99% of my total playtime or more.

I really love the sound of a fretless, but it's not for all styles of music. That's why I'm trying to find a fretted bass that plays as nicely and sounds good to me. So far I've found a couple which play well, namely Peavey Cirrus and G&L 2000 Tribute.

Strange man... a Squier fretless... well... who would expect that.??! but great man... the same for me, I can change my ol' acoustic guitar.. it has 11 years and I still like the sounds and the tension from the strings and everything and the guitar was quite cheap back in those days... I guess there's something more special than marks and models, just what fits you and is made for you, it is and that's it right...???

I sold my Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass to a guy who just wanted the neck...pretty expensive neck for him.
Anyway, I have a Spector five string. It's a great bass...but the electronics are screwy now.
I did play a bass I used to own at a store yesterday...it's only $199...but they way they had this particular one set up was magic.
But I'm poor anyway.

I had a 5-string for a while, ended up getting rid of it (in fact, some of the money from selling it is what bought the fretless ) because I rarely want or need the low B. I've been playing my 4-strings in cello tuning anyway (CGDA) so I get a pretty great range from that. I wanted to sell the 6-string too, but there wasn't much interest since it's an off-brand.

I already am already signed up for classes next semester, two math classes to get out of the way, a business class, and a philosophy class. I am trying to get all the extra crap I need to take out of the way.

I was able to register last Friday. But the system for registering is new this semester so it still has a few bugs in it. I was supposed to register at 3PM but it was almost 6PM before it would let me take 4 of the 5 classes I needed next semester.

Seriously though, I'm glad to hear the move went well, Robert.

News flash: Anneke van Giersbergen has an angelic voice.
And she's not too bad-lookin' either.

Lucky you... I cannot make my computer run a workstation program, so I have a korg M-50 workstation, that is more expensive than a decent computer and I can't sequence on it... so I'm trying to save money to buy a computer so I can start to compose and program layers... One year ago I buy that korg, good and practic, but who knew my computer sucks that much and that I don't have enough money...!!!

Hey, Supersilent has a new album this year too. I still need to listen to 6, I downloaded it from eMusic forever ago.

I like how Michigan took away the Michigan Promise. Kind of ironic.

Took manchmal out, makes no sense to say both "so viel" (so much) and "manchmal" (sometimes).

Well, I didn't actually take German myself in high school. I just have friends who took it and taught me a lot of it. So close enough.

I think that Ayreon's Into the Electric Castle and 0100100100100010000011010 are the only albums that I have heard her on, although, I think that I may have heard one or 2 songs from the Gathering a few years ago.
