Lately I've been really into some old nasty jangly math-rock... Shellac (glad to see them get mentioned in the math rock main page description), Shipping News, June of 44, etc...

My band is self-releasing a 6-track EP soon, check the myspace link in my sig for some of the songs.
Also, I'm getting married in 2 weeks.  life is crazy!
Hope everyone's doing well here... I'll try and stop in more often.  Everyone keep enjoying music!

Oh man! Congrats.
This is some crazy stuff indeed. I know so many people getting married/engaged and I'm still woefully single!
But thats great man, glad to hear life is good and you're still enjoying good music.

Hey Chris!!! Hug

I took a break from the site for quite awhile and just recently returned.I just had to unplug and go out and live life,ya know?

As usual my musical tastes have taken me all over the place, but I have been listening to a lot of post rock, post metal RIO/Avant.and quite a bit of math rock lately.Been getting into some of the lesser known bands in the genre like Piglet,Verbal,Phewwhoo,Dianogah,37500 Yens,Helsingfors,Hey! Tonal,We Are Knives, etc.

Congrats on your upcoming marriage!

Looking forward to checking out your music too, stop by more often and don't be a stranger.

Well you know how it is. Life got in the way of PA...
But it's summer...and since I have no life at the moment this dark place has taken over again!
And yes Jody that is one impressive list of obscurity!!

I like it a lot.
I loved it at first, then I got over the initial love affair and had to put it away.  But I started listening to it more and more and it's really solid.  It's a vast improvement over the last one.  I think 20 minutes/40 years is my favorite track.

Speaking of which, I was just looking at wikipedia and apparently there's a bonus track on the japanese version???? WTF how did I not know this??

I really dig it,and after damn near wearing it out I had to shelve the cd for awhile myself. But I think it's the best thing they have done in years.Same with Pelican's new "Ephemeral" EP.I hope the music on their newest full-length is in the same vein that.

I have the bonus track,it's called Way Through Woven Branches. You gotta get back in the loop,my friend.Tongue

Yeah, I've definitely been out of the new music loop.
Like I said, I've been getting into a lot of early 90's stuff, the proto-math-rock, via my bandmates.

OK, so this previously undiscovered bonus track is un-fCensoreding-believable.

Yeah,I can't understand why they wouldn't included a track that good on the regular release.

Definitely check it out; i think it's the best  track on their new album.  (of course, this is coming from someone who likes ITAOT way more than their latest Big smile)

Anyways, nice to see you back; i'll be sure to check out the latest from your band. (i remember really enjoying the myspace samples up from you and the dudes you were playing with before you broke things off with your lead guitar player)  Also, i second the "Piglet" recommendation. (i remember reading somewhere that they forged "Lava Land" while they were still in high school Shocked)

Looks like I have to look into this group for myself...

Chris I missed talking to you, and your bass player habits! I'm actually playing bass in a black metal project right now, though the recordings are so raw I'm afraid to show all of you guys, though I'm semi sure you'll all like the different vocals styles we use...

Where can I listen to the extra Isis track?

new Caspian - Tertia has  already leaked, so it's descent album .. very melodic, nice crafted tunes, follows i would say standard ''post rock '' scheme  , nothing extra special with this release , but worth listening .. i liked The Four Trees more
