on a Post-Black note, my fellaz: FEN have been added, one of the finest discoveries for me this year. Amazing mix of Post-Black, Prog-Black, Post-Rock and classic Black Metal (like DARKTHRONE or BURZUM), wholeheartedly recommended!

Holy Smokes! Nice find Prog-Jester; finally a black metal band besides Negura Bunget or Drudkh with a drummer that plays with groove rather than mind numbing repetitive thrashing. (and beautiful melodic composing to boot!) I thought "Distant Cries Of Cranes" was going to remain my fav. black metal release of the year for sure. So, what do you b*****ds think of the Indukti? I know all your part time pirate arses have heard it! I'm starting to believe that i like it more than SUSAR. |

I haven't heard it yet - I thought it was supposed to be released on the 24th of July. Is it on the streets or not? Sound anything like the first? |

I really was not impressed by four trees, is the new Caspian any better/more original? I like you.may.die.in.the.desert though, I'll probably pick that up. I just have so much music right now that I just think I should take a brake from getting more and concentrate on what I have.

Holy crap... *surprise super bad ass new band alert!* I think i just found the my fav. post rock release of the year (well, possibly until "these monsters" releases their new work)
http://www.myspace.com/lafindumondeband Anyone else heard this band yet? I've bee mesmerized by "Monolith" for the past couple days.
Well, a couple are selling on Amazon; i'm thinking of picking one up because the mp3 version i have has horrid quality. Anyways, the new album does sound a bit like the first (maybe a bit too much in regards to the "metal" distorted guitar expressions) but with a bit more variety and dynamic tension during some tracks. When considering that alot of the compositions on SUSAR sound a bit alike one another, (which is good if you're seeking the whole albumy feel of course) i'd say that Idmen offers more variety overall between tracks. |

Anyway, what's everyone into these days?
Lately I've been really into some old nasty jangly math-rock... Shellac (glad to see them get mentioned in the math rock main page description), Shipping News, June of 44, etc... My band is self-releasing a 6-track EP soon, check the myspace link in my sig for some of the songs. Also, I'm getting married in 2 weeks. life is crazy! Hope everyone's doing well here... I'll try and stop in more often. Everyone keep enjoying music! |
