^ That may be one of the best covers of any album or DVD I have ever seen...it's so bleak yet beautiful; Nicely Done! I seriously can't wait to see the film... Lasse's work is groundbreaking in the visual world.

Also, RE the Insurgentes DVD: Sounds like its gonna be great, watched the excerpt on the Insurgentes album again today. Also, the live Bass Communion recording is a damn fine extra Wasn't expecting anything of that caliber bonus.
Also, not sure if I've mentioned it before, but I got the Japanese version of Insurgentes for the bonus tracks, and they're all fantastic, higher quality than a few of the album tracks if I do say so.

I have played a few of the IEM discs now. Very spacey. Even more so than the early PT. It's almost like a continuation of that side of PT, in an alternate universe, if they'd gone down that road. Same kind of early-PTish humour as well. Blimey, the bonus track on An Elevator To Christmas had me worried! I thought my CD player was stuffing up!

LOL, I know what you mean. I thought my speakers were burning out!
I'm quite interested in the Insurgentes DVD, I really enjoyed the snippet of the film that you got with the album, and the fact that we get 6 outtake tracks makes it even more essential for me to get it now!
Been listening to Lightbulb Sun and Nil Reccuring over the weekend. Really loving Shemovedon and What Happens Now? at the moment
One thing I miss from modern PT ( I still love it though!) is the sense of twisted humour. They tend to write about very serious, heavy subjects these days. I liked it when they'd do something completely ridiculous, like 'What You Are Listening To', or 'Linton Samuel Dawson' (I actually enjoy that song!), etc.
Now I know where that humour has gone! IEM!

Man, I know exactly what you're talking about! I still really love the new evolution of Porcupine Tree, but the old albums sure had some great humor and occasional light-hearted subtle jokes, almost Zappa-ish. That's one thing that kind of turns me off about FoaBP; I agree with SW on all the issues (DL culture, prescrip. drugs, video game addiction, etc etc), it's just that it can be a little much on the brain sometimes when I just want to chill out . I just layed on my bed the other day and listened to Voyage 34, and was it a great listen!...not that I don't love the new PT, it's just a different kind of atmosphere.

I'll definitely be getting the Insurgentes DVD, but probably skipping the Recordings re-release. Shame they're not remastering it, although I guess the whole point of the re-release is to make it possible to get legitimate CD copies more than anything
Also, about the humour of early PT: I think it gave it a real light-hearted charm and made the music a lot more fun, although I think I prefer the seriousness of modern PT overall.
^Yeah the rerelease of Recordings is probably to combat the bootleggers. I'm glad they're reissuing it, as I don't really want to torrent it illegally. One wonders why, if they wanted the original release to be a collectors item limited to 2000 copies worldwide, or whatever it was, why didn't they issue an MP3/FLAC download on Burning Shed of it?
I'll definitely be buying Recordings, and the Insurgentes DVD. Then of course there's the forthcoming second SW solo album, the third Blackfield album, and the Wilson/Akerfeldt/Portnoy thing. This guy never stops!
I've already got tonnes of stuff of his this year alone: Anesthetize DVD (both the grey edition, and the standard DVD edition), the IEM boxset, the Cover Version boxset, the Atlanta download ...

On a seperate note... I'm listening to the Live version of The Sky Moves Sideways Phase 1 from the Coma Divine album. I forgot how good it was. Better than the studio version for me. I especially like the incorporated solo at the beginning before the 1st verse. I've always wondered why that was cut from the 30 min+ version on the 2nd disc of The Sky Moves Sideways Remastered.

Way Out Of Here is a great track, yes. It sounds amazing live, too. Having seen them perform it a few months back. It's so cool that Fripp appears on it. The other track featuring Robert, the instrumental Nil Recurring, is great and King Crimson-y, too.

^ I just love Nil Recurring (the track specifically). It does strike me as being a bit KC-ish, especially because of Fripp's lead guitar work; it's very distinct!

Well I finally got my copy of Anesthetize and watched the bluray last night.
Stunning. My favorite music DVD by far. The setlist is near-perfect (I don't like Halo as the closer...give me Trains any day!) and I love the inclusion of Half-Light and Drown With Me....Visually it's not just a concert. It's a concert FILM.

Definitely agree with you there, amazing concert. For me the only tracks I don't really like are Cheating The Polygraph and What Happens Now?, they seemed to be lacking a little bit of energy in comparison to the studio versions.
I really am a fanboy. Today I picked up Anathema's new album 'We're Here Because We're Here' which was mixed by Steven Wilson! I haven't even heard Anathema's music before! Hope I like it. I've bought stuff from PT's label Kscope before, and enjoyed all of it (Pineapple Thief, No Man, etc) so I'm sure I will like it.
I also bought Pendulum's new album Immersion today, just because of the song feauturing Steve on vocals!
