Hi fellas.
It's been a while since I last posted in here. I trust you're still using the fountain of youth ie pork rawk to steer clear of Mariah Carey and her evil cohorts? If so I salute your ways. I've been using the shower lately. My back is still crooked like a politician but it is slowly getting better. Let's say I dropped from a Nixon to a Clinton....but it's still got a little pastascrew shape to it. Here the other day I pulled off a salsa move I've been struggling with for years, so yeah there's that. Anyway enough of that, let's get on with the music. Been on a bit of an 80s binge lately with artists that'd make David aged 15 look down his nose with utter contempt. Hah m'yeah well maybe I'd be open to a little snuggle and rum if she wandered through my apartment. I am just not that into erm divas I think they're called. I have a female friend who works at a very exclusive hotel in Copenhagen, and she told me this insane story about Mariah Carey going all out berserk because the room she'd gotten didn't have fruits she'd asked for (supposedly).
Yeah I tend to run amok if my kiwis aren't in check whenever I show up at work in the morning. *Goddammit man!! You know I can't handle autists without my green bearded fruits!!' Is that a new album from Dirk? I've been listening to the live album of his and it's been really helpful on nights where my back feels like a clenched fist. So soothing and yet still menacing in all the right places much thanks to the ol Tangerine Dream snarl from the sequencers. "Ze słowem biegnę do ciebie" it must be ("With a word I'm running to You")! But I think that "Memento..." is better. BTW, I recently bought a couple of their live albums: 1. Karlstad 1975 plus - a legendary concert, this time supplemented with two following performances from the same tour (in Kolbäck and Sundsvall). 2. Warszawa 1980 from GAD records. Great!! Presently I'm on the black metal binge, listening to albums that I bought on yesterday's gig, from the bands that played (three bands played in total - Entropia, Obscure Sphinx and Batushka - all of them Polish): Entropia - Vesper Entropia - Ufonaut Batushka - Litourgiya (currently listening yet, black metal with Orthodox chants!) ^ SBB is a kick-ass band. My favourite is Wolanie... (the self-titled 1978 one also called Slovenian Girls) though I would agree that both Memento.. and Ze Slowem... are better.

How is it? A friend of mine who is a die hard Led Zeppelin fan keeps saying how great this band is but from what he showed me (only two or three songs) they just seem like a bad Led Zeppelin imitation.

A photo summation of my listening habits of the last few weeks. The Prog Gods are not pleased...
 Last few days... Martika - Martika: Using Spotify's similar artists deal concerning Gloria Estefan, I discovered another Cuban American with late 80's gleam potential. For awhile it sounded like early Kylie Minogue but even more chintzy and cringy (I think even the drum machine was making mistakes during the second song), and then "Toy Soldiers" started. I was like "WHOA...I KNOW THIS!" Even the dated production and cloying kids couldn't stop that strong chorus from taking me back to my youth in a positive manner. Her take on "I Feel The Earth Move" brought me back to reality though...crapalicious. Obscura - Cosmogenesis: Good ole' tech death, and one of the best out there, especially for bass enthusiasts. What makes it great is that it's also kinda catchy, which isn't something you hear often when someone's describing tech death insanity. I can growl in the shower to this! So glad this got a vinyl reissue, they were going for hundreds of dollars before. Yep, those prices will be dropping now. Mary's Blood - Revenant: All-girl Japanese metal band is back and as furious as ever, but branching out in some ways. One of their songs even flirts with prog a bit (up to now their style ranged from power-thrash to Van Halen-esque party metal), and another is like a tribute to AC/DC and Janis Joplin at the same time. It sorta works pretty well. I still love it when they go for speed the most though, and they still got it. Bridear - Helix: Another all-girl Japanese metal band with a new release. Not as ferocious overall as Mary's Blood, but one of these songs actually has growling in it. I swear, Japan has some kind of borderline monopoly on powerhouse female drummers. This woman can cook on that jit. Deep Purple - Deep Purple: I always loved "Blind", especially that nasty sounding wah-wah guitar solo. The harpsichord, the drugged-out lyrics, it's all a trip! At the same time, I always thought the whole "April" suite was just okay. It's not bad, but it ain't the highlight to my ears. The opener is more my style with all that percussion going on...like some Aztec on acid ritual.

Herbie Hancock - Head Hunters Vespero - Lique Mekwas Mike Oldfield - Hergest Ridge (Original mix, I only knew the 2010 one and it's quite different) Tangerine Dream - Force Majeure Peter Baumann - Trans Harmonic Nights Tangerine Dream - Encore Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (Early 1972 mix. It's a more worthy listen than I thought it would be. It's a lot more focused on the bands' performance, since it lacks many of its details, rounded edges and cuts of the final album. I particularly liked this version of "Us and Them", it's a lot more about the piano and saxophone, since many parts weren't replaced by spoken bits.)

Yeah, guys, SBB is superb. Apart from the ones mentioned, Follow My Dream and Pamięć are also excellent, in my opinion. I'm yet to listen to Karlstad 1975, though. I'm not sure if I haven't said that already, so forgive me if I'm repeating myself, but I got to see them play in September 2016 here in Lublin and got to talk to Józef Skrzek for a few minutes before the gig. Very friendly, kind, and, most of all, interesting person.

It's a fairly recent Cosmic Ground release from 2016, essentially two side-long pieces recorded during the third album sessions but ultimately offered up as a free download, but it did get an LP release. It's on its way to me right now. Sorry to hear about your back, man, I totally relate. I'm actually literally right now about to depart to do 30 minutes of stretches before bed to help strengthen up my back, which has been getting a little creaky again! Mate, you should definitely look into this release, I just bought the LP of it, Scattered Purgatory's `Sun-Hiam-Zun' from late 2017. A stunner of a modern Krautrock disc (although very short!), they're a Japenese duo that craft hypnotic, ethnic flavoured psychedelic drones with thick electronics ala Cluster/Popul Vuh, with a rough around the edges stripped-back production.
