Hey Scott do you have any preference between SanFran or St.Loius ?
I thought that was a series you could flip a coin about, They're so evenly matched. My head was saying SanFran because of their pitchiing but St'Louis just seems to be able to win when they need to. Looking forward to the game tonight.

I don't really have a preference.  The Tigers seem to struggle against lefties not named C.C. Sabathia, so San Fran might pose a greater challenge there.  San Fran not playing Melky Cabrera is a plus, but it doesn't seem to have really affected them too much.  With both Holliday and Beltran having injuries, that might be the better opponent, although not sure if their injuries would keep them out or not.  I suppose St. Louis gets a slight edge for the "revenge" factor from losing to them in 2006, but there are so few members of either team still playing for these teams it really isn't much of a factor.

Latest rumour: A-Roid could be trading in his Yankee pinstripes for Philly pinstripes. ?

Can't imagine why, we have plenty of players who can't hit.  Tongue

Yes, because i am a National League fan for years, i will go for the Giants, but it's just frustrating that Melky Cabrera is not in the line up, so we can see both teams on equal terms. But with the kind of pitching that Giants showed off in the last 3 games, they could pull it off, if they can shut down the big 2 monsters of Detroit, Cabrera and Fielder.

Should be a great World Series. Both teams have really good pitching staffs but the Giants i think have a better bullpen. But the Tigers at least can set up their starting pitching the way they want to and the Giants can't. But the layoff usually isn't a good thing so...flip a coin ? Big smile
If i was betting i'd take the Giants but i'd love to see Detriot win this thing.

Go Tigers!

I'd be shocked if Tigers don't win the first one with Zito starting for the Giants although they may be rusty after the layoff they've had.

Given recent history, the team that's had a long layoff before the World Series has generally lost it. Heck, look at the Tigers back in '06.

Still though, if I were betting on it, I would still pick the Tigers to win. And I will be supporting them in the WS, because I'm still hacked at the Giants for beating my Reds. Unhappy

Sure. I am game for a friendly bet on the series.  Rather than a photo, maybe we should go with the loser having to change their avatar to one glorifying the winning team.

It is supposed to be in the 70's today and tomorrow and the Tigers are on the road in San Francisco.  By the weekend, they are talking highs in the 40's, with a chance of snow by game 5 on Monday.

Baseball should be played in the snow more often.

Was hoping for the Cards but ah well, I shall be pulling for the Giants.
Seems to me that would be a bit of an upset and indeed, looks like the Tigers are certainly favored.

Though like most of the country (outside CA and MI this year) I find it difficult to care alot when the Yanks aren't involvedTongue

I like baseball enough that I tend to watch the WS regardless of who is in it. I guess you're losing some of your baseball cred, Brian. Wink

Well so far, this game is going the way I was afraid it would. I knew the Tigers were going to be a bit rusty coming off of such a long break, but Verlander giving up 4 runs in 3 innings (including a pair of homers to Sandoval) was way more than I thought it would be. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
