I hope it's not true, McRae would be a massive loss for the sport.

Weird that so many F1 people died in accidents not related with cars:
Graham Hill & Tony Brise
José Carlos Pace
Patrick Depailler
Didier Pironi

You can add world champions Mike Hawthorn and Guisipe Farina to that grim list.

Sorry to be pedantic Embarrassed .... both Hawthorn and Farina were killed in cars but on public roads - as were Mike Hailwood, Mike Parkes and Clay Regazzoni.

Patrick Depailler was killed testing his Alfa F1 car at Hockenheim in 1980.

Others you can add to the list - David Prophet [1981 helicopter crash] and David Purley [1985 Pitts Special stunt plane].

If this is confirmed, it means both of the British World Rally Champions are now dead!

Edit: I see McCrea's death has now been confirmed. Very sad.

That is terrible news. Was Richard Burns the other British Champion? I havn't followed much Rally much lately...what happened to Burns?

Hate to change the topic, but after Belgium  the fight for the F1 title is just 2 points. I honestly have no clue who I think will win.

And again, sad news about McRae.

Richard Burns died of a Brain Tumor, I believe.

It's sad news indeed about Colin MacRae.  Hs young son also perished in the crash.

This is horrible news and my thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Frighteningly David Richards (boss of Prodrive and Aston Martin) was involved in a helicopter crash earlier today as well, but he thankfully walked away from it unhurt.

I'm also upset about the Hawker Hurricane that crashed (killing the pilot) at the weekend.  It was only one of 6 flying in the UK. Cry

What a race, excellent drive by Hamilton, no one could touch him today and great performances by Kovaleinen and Raikkonen as well. I think Lewis has all but won the title now with that 12 point lead only 20 left.

What a crazy race. I enjoyed it, despite it's start...

They said this was the first time 2 Finns were on a Podium??? I can't believe it.
