NEW PELICAN EP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's called Ephermal, three songs, one of them being an earth cover. It's supposed to be riff-tastic! Though I'd rather see a new LP this year (Not saying they wont), this will have to suffice for now.

Honestly, after "City of Echoes", i don't even know if i can trust pelican anymore....
Also, about it being "more riff based".... aren't all of Pelican's records quite riff based? (kinda worried) |

^ Hell yeah! I'm going to the show tommorow! I'll be sure to pick it up and tell you guys!
Dominic, City of Echoes isnt all that bad, songs like Bliss in concrete, dead between the walls, and A Delicate Sense of Balnce make it a solid kick ass album.

City of Echoes is a great album! Interestingly enough, those are probably my 3 least favorite tracks on the album. Well, the closer is a great one, and the other two are still good, but they're not in my top half.

New motW fits me very well. I've talked with some of my friends, and hit on a totally different opinions. But, I can be subjective and tell that album is a rocking star. :D

As i've mentioned before, I think "Winds with Hands" is amazing enough alone to make CoE purchase worthy, but i really didn't like the change of style they made on during that album to the point that now i'm worried about inviting people to go see the band with me next week because they'll surely think the band sucks if they're mainly playing stuff from CoE.
So, about that bangin' new Indukti EP, anyone recognize that track "Mantra"? It isn't on their first album, yet there's an old version of it on youtube that was apparently posted on there over a year ago... weird. Anyways, the track is new to me and i can't stop listening to the amazingness... Edited by Dominic - May 20 2009 at 02:18 |

I loved the new motW but compared to LyBM it doesn't even come close. WitTR's touring the US again but I can't go AGAIN. It's the third time this band has been here and I haven't been able to go... WTF!

Hmm... Now you made me interested, because you mentioned new Indukti EP. I discovered the band recently through "S.U.S.A.R." album and simply it blew me away. Now, I know that they are preparing new album, if I am not wrong, but you mentioned that EP. Have you listened? How's that? Where to find more about it? |

The show was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tombs opened, though I've had trouble getting into their LP, they were excellent live! The singer/guitar playr was scary looking, ad the drummer was super talented. Pelican was everything I'd hope they'd be! They played Bliss in concrete, Embedding the moss, Ephermal, Far from fields, Geometry of murder, then they closed with AUSTRAILASIA!!!!!!!!!! They havent played a song from that album on their last two tours as far as I know! When Isis took the stage it got a little crazy in the crowd, which disappointed me, cause I wasnt able to experience the first two or so songs how I'd like. They opened with Hall of the Dead, 20 minutes/40 years, some song from itaot, Ghost key, In fiction, Hand of the Host, and eneded with some super long song off of celestial.... Between those two groups, I've never hadbanged harder!
After the show, not only did I buy the new EP, but I bought it from Trevor DeBrow himself!!!!! I also took a picture with the herweg brothers, and had a short conversation with all of Pelican. Bought my Isis shirt, then talked with Jeff Caxide, and Aaron Harris.

Thanks for the details sir. It's cool that you got to talk to some band members... wow, i can't wait till they get here next week Btw dude, look for the Japanese version of Wavering Radiant. This bonus track is making me regret any negative comments i've made about the album. Edited by Dominic - May 20 2009 at 17:14 |

^ I did yesterday; "Embedding the Moss" is pretty cool, but the rest.... i really wanted to like them.
Riffs are ok, but to me, what separates Pelican from many of other sludge metal bands is their talent for weaving unique melodic rhythms into their compositions. |
