^^^^ I suggest you keep it for a while, I shave every morning thinking that Rousseau phrase, like that i am never surprised about human stupidity. Was it not Einstein that said that there are 2 infinites, the universe and stupidity but he is not too sure of the first one?! Miaou, indeed !

I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Anyone who wants to know what socialism is about should watch this video. It's called 'The Soviet Story'
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1549381614128077376&ei=07TTSfXvOZus_AHNuLSMCg&q=The+Soviet+Story&hl=en
You will also get a history lesson that few people in this day and age get.

I agree with what you say , but let me give you an example: In 2003 after suffering the worst crisis in our country. Nestor Kirchner was elected President , since we were right at the bottom financially , the few economical measures he took helped raising our GDP up and helped loads of people from total poverty. The guy was no genius , this was all due to the natural behaviour of the economic cycles. People started to have trust in his administration and he grasped all power in Congress. After a few years we all started to realize all the flaws within government and now that his wife was elected up to 2011 we are regretting our decision.
Sorry for the little lesson in Argentinian history , but the same can be taken to the US case. You will recover , but it will happen naturally. Not because Obama is the second coming , and in a couple of years you will be able to judge him more objetively. |
Great insight, I cannot agree more with the bolded statement. That is why I ask myself why all this government activity to help rebuild Wall Street, when history proves that it will fix itself on its own.

what it is... is not to rebuild... but to soften the fall... obviously it will right itself naturally...but at what cost... that is what the government is trying to soften the blow. People will bitch... but like many today.. they don't think about what would happen if the the government didn't interveen but hahahha.... trust me.. the voices that berate him now would be tenfold if he did nothing and let unemployement hit 15% while the market naturally sorted itself out

So running up the national deficit even more is better than letting the market sort itself out? ![Confused Confused](smileys/smiley5.gif) I shudder to think of the day 10-15 years from now when China finally comes back to us and says "Pay up". Also, if you can give me an example of when the government intervened with the economy and managed to fix it faster, then I have the Brooklyn Bridge to sell you. Some say FDR lengthened the Great Depression by as much as 5 years because he spent so much money on government programs that did little to solve actual economic programs. Lyndon Johnson tried the Great Society program and we all know how that worked out. But I think Obama is going to top both of them combined in ridiculous spending and unnecessary programs. The polls are still high because the honeymoon isn't over. But a year or two from now, I guarantee you're going to see Obama's numbers plummet because of all the crap he's slinging into the economy.

I guess I wasn't loud enough for you to hear me then. ![Wink Wink](smileys/smiley2.gif) Edit: I don't know how I forgot to mention this, but last I checked, Congress is responsible for the budget and spending, not the President. So instead of blaming Bush, blame those little sh*theads in the House and Senate. ![LOL LOL](smileys/smiley36.gif)
