David has "changed" his AMAZING blues-rock voice to a cheap copy of Robert Plant, which I'm no huge fan of his voice.

Good choices would be Geddy Lee or Budgie's vocalist, though I'm sure Jimmy and John weren't considering them

Geddy only comes into play if Jones decides that Zep without Plant isn't Zep. Then Page would be able to replace two guys by one.

I just saw Plant / Krauss last week. Unreal. Battle of Evermore was bone chilling. As was a very interesting rendition of "In the Mood"

Plant is one of the last living demigods of rock. He commanded the stage in a way that only Etta James and Gilmour have in my concert going experience (obviously those three do so in very different ways).

Pagey and Jones pulling a Journey would be beyond pathetic. Page has been a shell of the man who inspired most of my guitar playing for a long time.
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

Forget about Lou Gramm as i saw his name mentioned before.
I watched a 2005 DVD from Foreigner,     he is cooked , he is not healthy, .......and he can't sing anymore.Even Foreigner is touring with a new singer nowadays!

I reckon that lead vocalist from Jane's Addiction would have done a great job - Perry Farrell

Another band bites the dust. They're up there on the over familiarity scale anyway. Glad that Plant is following more mature avenues in his advancing years. I guess there's enough unadventurous pigeons out there who never tire of hearing Stairway To Heaven, Kashmir or Rock 'n Roll over and over and over and over and over and over and ver and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. They've run their course. Don't get me wrong I've always been a fan and the reunion lived up to my expectations. It also looks like Yes is a dead horse as well. Again, I'm a big fan of the earlier material but I think they made a big mistake with all those live DVDs and CDs. O      V       E      L     O       A        D.

I would suggest that if Page & Jones (let's say the obvious, Jason Bonham is the drummer's son, not a member of led zep), do decide to go out as Led Zeppelin, that they present it as Queen did - Paul Rodgers AND Queen. May & Taylor have every right to lay claim to the name, but are honest enough not to place Rodgers as Mercury's replacement. Which is something they've explained in the interviews I've read. Even in the set list, there's a mix of all their musical history, plus a few new songs.
So if Zep does choose a new singer, please let it be someone with enough success behind him that Page & Jones can play a few of the singer's songs without it coming across as second tier material and filler.
I mentioned Sammy Hagar at the beginning. I won't claim he is of the same status as Rodgers outside the U.S. . But there are surely a few tunes in his back catalogue (solo and Montrose, including the Van Hagar days), that P & J could play without shame. Not to say that they equal Zep's best, just that there are some pretty good tunes on there (and no, When It's Love is not what I mean).
I'm sure there would be a backlash by some, but many would be happy to hear the old LZ tunes once more.
Just make sure that it's not billed as a reunion, nor THE led zep.

Perhaps if they replace Page and Jones too, I might actually like Led Zeppelin.  Wink

Usually I don't like it when bands replace a key member with an outsider.  For example, Queen has been mentioned.  I wish May & Taylor had carried on as Queen (or as Smile for that matter) without bringing in Paul Rodgers.  May and Taylor are perfectly capable of handling all the vocals (neither of them are slouches in that department) and of course, they could still bring in Edney on keys and Miranda on bass (although Deacon coming back would have been really cool).  But why add an ousider to the band for a key role like lead singer/major composer?  I do have to give them credit though for at least calling attention to the fact that there's an outsider in the band by calling it "Queen & Paul Rodgers".

One time it did work though, was when The Cars came back without Ric Ocasek and, of course, the sadly departed Ben Orr, and replaced Ric with Todd Rundgren.  I didn't think it would work, but after listening to the CD, I was quite pleasantly surprised.

Of course, I don't really like the mighty Zeppelin that much.  A couple of songs were decent, "Battle of Evermore", "No Quarter" and probably one or two others.  But overall, not a big fan.  However, I think it would be very disappointing for fans to see Led Zeppelin without Plant being there.

With the Cars, I felt that it was a bit much. How do you call yourself the Cars without the main (like 99%) songwriter ? Here in Canada, Jim Kale owns the Guess Who name. Why ? Because he was the last original member or that once Burton Cummings left, Kale went out and trademarked it. So only he can authorize its' use a band name. SO now he's out there touring the boonies as the Guess Who, and Cummings Bachman tour under their moniker due to this "legal" matter. Burton & Randy had tried for another reunion to no avail, and had asked for permission to use the name, but Kale asked for an outrageous amount of money in return.
In this case though, the "franchise" name wasn't important as the fans came out in drove to see the actual brains behind the band, no matter what name they were touring as.

All these guys should buy islands and take up archery, lawn bowling or croquet. Gentle Giant, now that`s something. Never happen though.

Just read that. it seems that Plant's manager is also Dee Snider (Twisted Sister) manager. And that Bobby has turned down a ton of money, with Zep to tour with Myles Kennedy.
So the other three guys in Alter Bridge, who used to be in Creed, have lost a second lead singer.
