It is perhaps more sexuality than music...

Just heard a different version of Level 5, and it blew me away.

In fact, is it not true that Fripp has a brother... called JESUS CHRIST! and as he was so jelous of his guitar playing he said, "well... I shall do miracles instead"...? is that not true? I believe it is!

Indeed, this seems most meet that this be true,

and yet

it is still held in some circles that the Fripp, may his strings forever gleam with the facets of his hair,  was not born of a woman as was Christ, but born of 10 women, all at the same time (from three fathers perhaps).

Is there really a guitarist as unknown as Fripp and as good as him? In my opinion he is the best, listen to easy money (LTIA) and tell me the solo dosent immedietly turn you on, in fact all of larks tounges is amazing thanks to fripp, but does anyone besides the prog community know him? Probably not, what a shame that amazing talent goes unseen. WHAT FRIPP SAYS IS LAW!!!

I like the 70s Crimson records ( despite Providences and Moonchilds ). I can't stand de 80's stuff. I haven't bothered to listen to what he does nowadays.
I also think his fans are the most exagerated guys in the prog community.

Mee too. After Red, I lost my interest in his work.
Discipline, Beat, Thrak, Vroom vroom are not music what I like.

I also don't adore him as a person. Zappa was also bossy with members of the band, but he is more extrovert and funny.

But I understand your admiration. When you are young it's very convinient to have Fripp as idol.

Because even if you dont fully understand him and his music, who can say that your idol isn't on top. Some of his karma could pass on you.
I think that anyone should have own opinion (taste), and if you have then it's impossible to like all his work.

Fripp is a kind and benevolent entity.

Because if not for him, Pat Mastellato would be relegated to endless Mister Mister reunion tours.

All hail to the Frippster.

The one true progressive rock progressive guitarist (if you follow me).

He is always one step ahead whilst the others are lagging behind.

I do love Steve Howe, but hey.. you can have too much Country-style guitar twanging eh.

Of course Fripp has a sense of humor, just listen to his comments on Windows Vista

http://youtube.com/watch?v=W7qz1LRCPPw

"Vista is a leap forward, it's not a subject that will touch Apple users... It really is very impressive to see where Windows Vista is going... I'm an Apple user"

He doesn't say a good thing about Windows the entire time. Only a man like Fripp could take phrases like "quantum leap forward" and "very impressive" and make them into insults.

I never before read any appreciation thread so I do'nt know if this one is different or it is allways funny. Yet, Fripp for me is a serious matter.

I think Fripp forced me to get deeper in music listening (by writing some beautiful tracks side by side to very undigestible tracks) and once I did so I've been hooked forever.

King crimso for me is a 25 years love story and it is still growing.

Haha, I watched that a couple of days ago and I didn't get it that way. Are you sure he was being ironic? I actually thought he wanted to say something nice, but didn't really know what and where to take it, so he threw in something ambiguous about Apple and how Vista is great compared to anything else...

maybe he Tony Levin and Bruford form a singing trio in the future... wow that would be... progressive

I was thinking about the position of KC on the top 100, at number 7.  I initially thought to myself, "Why arn't they higher, they are the greatest in the universe?"

Then I remembered that 7 is the number of completion.  So, it is a symbol of fullness and it is a goodness that KC are number 7.  A symbolic proclamation of their perfection.
