That reminds me of the time at the zoo, and I don't think I should go any farther with that memory.

I was thinking about it - why would one wish there were more women liking this genre of music?
One could probably wish there were more women in his private or social life, but women especialy liking prog? - why's that? I know several women liking prog and enjoy conversating with them as much as I enjoy (or not) prog discussions with men, but I do not really wish there would be more of them. Actually I do not wish there would be more People liking prog, leave alone division by gender.

It does not matter if a girl likes prog or not. If she is cute, intelligent and crazy, I'd like to meet her.
I'm a male by the way.

once I went to the university with my guitar, since I had free blocks between classes and had nothing better to do, I brought it there to practice in my free hour... Once I started exercising with it, my female classmates asked me to play them something... of course I thought about playing them a classical piece
When I started playing the girls were losing interest and told me to play them something more popular.. so they asked me to play them a song by a band called Mana (alternative mexican pop/rock band)... I had no choice but to play them "Muelles de San Blas"... the point is that most of the women I know don't take interest in anything resembling prog, while surely I've drawn interest of males when I practiced one of those classical Segovia pieces... of course I'm not going to make prejudice. I'm not asking them to actually fanatize with that kind of music, but to at least take interest in it when they hear it.

I haven't seen females here, well 2 or 3 may be.. where are they? Do you all think that Prog Music in General is an exclusively music genere of Male only? I don't know, but it seems.
anyway, the Poll says another thing.

Here Here are the true figures, Wendy: the totality of ProgArchives’ female population. The pretty one in the foreground is GhostRider (Raffaella), ProgChick is on the right, playing the mandoline, and then there’s myself, walking away in the background (as Sean Trane once noted, I usually creep out of the woodwork whenever a thread talks about women and Prog ).
Seriously, welcome aboard Wendy22, and make yourself at home.

I like many other music styles as well as prog. It is not an issue if someone is more into soundtracks or acid folk or whatever. My girlfriend enjoys some prog acts, as a direct consequence of being exposed to my music collection, but she introduced me to electronic minimalism (Pansonic, Leggo Beast, Boards of Canada, Mika Vainio, etc.), and I must say I was blown away with the genre. Still am. Quite a step further in terms of creation and music as art and concept, and quite a relief for me in times in wich regresive bands had me wondering if that was it. Male, by the way.
