Probably nothing. These false rumors have been going on for too long for me to believe them. Just gotta keep checking Gabriel's site to see if anything is REALLY official.

Phil Collins Says Possibility of Genesis Reunion Still Looms In a new interview in the Toronto Star, Phil Collins, who was promoting his new Tarzan project on Broadway, says of a possible Genesis reunion, "We're five strong personalities with five very individual lives, but we're moving toward the possibility." ___________________________________________________________
Well, that means that nothing is going on really... they are still teasing us. At least from what I have heard nothing will happen until 2007

Rumours like these were spread when people spoke about the Wilson/Akerfeldt/Portnoy collaboration, and look what happened there
But I can believe that these rumours have been going on just a little too long to take seriously.

Swedish paper Dagens Nyheter had a follow-up article of their last one today:
Oh Yes, Genesis do come, but later.
No, Genesis reunion with Peter Gabriel isn't official yet, as DN wrote this monday.
Only almost. As late as 13/5 Phil Collins did confirm in Canadian Toronto Star that all of the group's members from the first half of the 70s have met to discuss a number of concerts in big cities around the world.
The press conference that, according to news site Virgin.net, should be held in Los Angeles this tuesday didn't occur and the timetable for the coming album and concerts is still secret.
(Sorry for my not so good translation)

Your gonna shoot them? Than there won't even be a chance for a reunion tour in the future. |

I agree that I want a Peter Gabriel website official announcement. He's strikes me as the hardest to rope into the deal. I'd love if it was the case, though.

Well... maybe I'll let them live for some few more years, but I'll track all of those rumor starters for making all the hype and leaving us with nothing at the end |

And the latest rumour....
+++probably reported on this forum elsewhere, but hey, ho+++ Phil Collins apparently quoted from a Los Angeles radio show late in May, stating it is "definite" that all 5 members of the classic line up are to re-stage and perform 'The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway' for a limited series of shows in late 2006/early 2007 to be recorded & filmed for CD & DVD release. How confident are we this is true, I wonder? It does however raise one of the great Genesis questions, though - can fatty Gabriel still fit into the Slipperman costume, and if so, will his vocals be audible/coherent this time...? Answers on a postcard to the usual address... |

Jim. It'd be great to see 'The Lamb...', but as for a new album, even if it were true, it may well disappoint people who expect a lot from it. Certainly, I found VDGG's reformation album 'Present' underwhelming personally, with two classics in 'Every Bloody Emperor' and 'Nutter Alert' but a host of other songs that weren't exactly bad but were pretty sloppy and sounded half finished. It was decent enough, but I wanted more. I suspect the album may well disappoint, but I'd be first in the queue!! It'd be great just to hear some new product, and to stop the wretched 'Calling All Stations' being the last Genesis album...Ray Wilson is currently, and quite cheekily imo, touring at the moment in a show called 'The World Of Genesis' which features songs from throughout their career- a tall order considering he was only there for one album which few fans would ever class as being any kind of very good, let alone classic, album. What I'd love to hear as much as a new Genesis album is a new one from Uriah Heep (make it proggy too, please- they've veered towards that direction on the last 2 albums, though the last one was almost 10 years ago!) and Yes, who if you don't count the half live 'Keys To Ascension' sets (which I didn't feel come close to their glory years bar 'Mind Drive'- another instance of a disappointment) haven't cut a proper studio album with the Anderson/Howe/White/Squire/Wakeman line up since the below par 'Tormato', way back in 1978! However, Genesis just win out... |

I think it's too much to expect new product from them, but if they did perform 'The Lamb', I'd be first in the queue for tickets - hell, I'd remortgage my house & sell my cats for medical experiments; not so much to see 'The Lamb' (which isn't my favorite Gabriel/Genesis album), but just to see those guys on stage together... can you imagine the atmosphere at the gig? ...and lets face it, IF they do this, they will not be allowed off stage without playing at least some other material - as long as it doesn't involve Collins acting a complete @rse during 'I Know What I Like'... |
