Ænima, Lateralus and 10,000 Days are all worth four stars. But, I believe Ænima > Lateralus > 10,000 Days.

You're probably referring to the now defunct Tapeworm project.  One of such planned tracks can be heard on A Perfect Circle's last album Emotive as the track 'Passive'. Next up for Tool I believe is a concept album a la The Wall.  Danny Carey has stated such in interviews before 10K's release.  And I say to the band: forget The Wall, make sometime a la The Lamb.   Also I've heard that the Lateralus DVD has also been scrapped.

I listened but once again I didn`t enjoy

Bands that 'make one want to kill oneself' can only be blamed on the listener's psyche.  If that's the case, you should have a field day with NIN's and VDGG's output.  I love your generalizations, to refute: every band has a teenage fan; many people are 'directionless'; every band have a positive outlook depending on who you are.  Good day.

10,000 Days, to me, is a slower more boring version of the previous Tool albums.

I did not think Lateralus was as good as Undertow or Aenima, but I pretty much think that Tool left nothing to be desired after those albums.  There was little they could with the style except to polish it...which they did on Lateralus, and it lacked the grit of the previous two albums.  It had a couple of great tracks, but largely just more of the same.  10,000 Days is more of more of the same.

The only desire I had after 10,000 Days was to listen to 4 Degrees on Undertow.

Easily their best album and easily the best metal album I have ever heard. the 2-part epic "wings" has to be the best song they ever did. It moves me and it is brilliant! I also love the grooves and catchiness missing in lateralus like the intro of "The Pot" (killer bass riff) and the chorus of Right in two.

I don't think it's more of the same at all! They added so many new elements in this album!

However, I still cannot digest fully Jambi and Lost Keys/Rossetta Stone.

Check to ^.
I was looking for that button too!Confused
Judging an album by its predecessors is very blinding in my opinion...Although the poll is sorta asking if you like it better or worse than the others.

Well that is quite a statement however I happen to fall into the category of peopleyou have dexcribed and it may be easy for you with hindsight to prey upon teenagers who have not figured every last detail of life such as all the older geniouses like yourself, who must be perfect. why else would you have the right to criticise an extrordinarily talented group of people and their fans as well. And obviously you havent paid a bit of attention to the message of the entire Lateralus album which is very positive and optimistic. And oh my god can any one belive the fact that Im sixteen years old and havent found my exact direction in life. How dare I not be born with an agenda in my mind of what I am supposed to do and what other humans I will tear down from now until the end of time. Maybe I should stop listening to tool and start trying to be more like you sir. Ive always wanted to end up being a bitter old man. I dont know if you are an old man but you seem to be. I personally dont beleive in god but if I did I would take the time to pray that I never end up like you.

I love it and a rate it equal to Lateralus. I actually have really hard time to put Tool (full) albums in order, they are all different and I love each one.

Tool just get better and better each time, although it took me a while to like Lateralus just a tiny bit more than Aenima. But after the first spin 10000 Days beats them both.At last (unlike some reviewers have said) Maynards vox have been mixed up front of the instruments. That man has to be one of the most versatile prog singers on earth.Accapella(The Pot) or death scream he can do it all with emotion. It is nice to hear Adam and Justin experimenting with their sound more. And Danny.......

Sorry, mine was a play on Hooker with a Penis! a JokeEmbarrassed Allthough I do get a bit miffed with slurs and generalisations towards a perceived fan base age group.Probably a good thing I didn't see the reply.

In order to fully appreciate 10,000 Days you need to listen to the album at least four or five times all the way through.  Each time I listen to it all the way through I love it more each time!

Okay ppl, I find 10k days a bbbbbbit inferior to Lateralus, but I voted 'Great, equal to Lateralus.' since the difference in my opinion is really small. This is an amazing album, the only problem I have with it are some of Maynard parts (eg, The Pot intro). Anywho, this is a MUST HAVE people!!!

5/5 Thumbs Up

My first impression of the album was that I was glad it was different from lateralus.  At the moment I would say that it is a fabulous album, but lateralus still strikes me as the better work.  However, I'm liking it more and more each time i listen to it, so my opinion will probably change over time.

10,000 days is definately a lot different than Lateralus. The focus seems to be more on creating moods and textures (Wings 1 and 2, Intension, Rosetta Stoned) than on metal riffery (like Lateralus' Ticks and Leeches, The Grudge, Schism, etc.) Guess it all depends on what I'm in the mood for, but as of right now I prefer 10,000 Days.
