Yeah, if you're looking for blazing guitar distortion, you aren't going to find it with Genesis, thats for sure.

I'm a personal fan of Trick of the Tail, thats my favorite Genesis album followed by Foxtrot and Selling England. I think the first side of Trick is amazing... dance on a volcano, entangled, squonk, and mad man moon are all fantastic pieces... especially entangled, man that song is well done.

get "The Battle of Epping Forest" and "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight".

Selling England by the Pound and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway are my personal favorites.

I never liked genesis at first either, I didnt like peter's voice at the time, but I grew into it eventually and now peter is my favorite singer and genesis I like almost as much as my favorite band Rush!

Ok, im obviously a huge Genesis fan. It all started two years ago when i decided to play my dad's vinyl of "A trick of The Tail" which, obviously, blew me away. It all began with this album and it seems to be the genesis album for the non fan (who eventually becomes devoted to the band). Being interested, i bought "FOxtrot" a few months later and was once again blown away. but this was a different Genesis...a Peter Gabriel genesis. This was a Genesis that was whimsical, smart and self indulgant. This was a Genesis band that ENJOYED the music. But since you already own "FOxtrot", perhaps getting "A Trick Of The Tail" will help you appeaciatte it more. You could also try the mellower, but brilliant  "SElling England..." But for me, the "TRICK OF THE TAIL" and "FOXTROT" combination did wonders.

I remember the first time I heard Genesis. It was Selling England, I hated it. It seemed overdone, longwinded, and pompus. With all music though, I gave it a second listen. I instantly was converted, suddenly music was a different experiance for me. If it werent for Genesis, music wouldnt have a shred of its current importance in my life.

G out to the music store and buy the entire Mariah catalogue ( just kidding ) I'm not a big Genesis fan but own all their stuff up to Wind and Wuthering. A good sampling of the real early stuff can be found On Genesis Live. Iwould also suggest you try some Gentle Giant. Not an easy band to get into but once acquire the taste you won't be able to get enough of them. My favourite Genesis track is Back In NYC off the Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.
