I don't know, I am "radical" in about 50% cases, disdaining most of the considered classics and having own favourites. I sometimes think I simply do not fit this site well, but then I think that since we listen to the same progressive groups together the contrast could prove useful.

For example, my favorite Yes album is Tormato and I often find myself defending that position.

Is Grace Under Pressure your favorite Rush album when everyone else insists that it should be Moving Pictures?

Grace Under Pressure is great!  Not my fav of course, but definitely underrated.

Tormato and Drama are in the post!  They've had so many mixed review I've got to hear for myself.

i think it is not the favorite of all of you

Discipline is very good, and quite a revolutionary album, I think most people like this one.

All the Calvert Hawkwind albums. Not many other Hawfans seem to like them..

Wrong. Jean and I love the Calvert Hawkwind albums. The "Sonic Assassins" EP is outstanding; some of the very best Hawkwind of all times. There is an amazing version of "Death Trap" on it.
I agree with "Tarkus" too, but heartily disagree with "And then there were Three".

You're right, Memowakeman, 'Discipline' is a very good album by King Crimson who, you'll have noticed, never gave two sh*ts about being 'in' with the scene. The album is very avantgarde for the early '80's and it just sounds like a big F*CK OFF to the whole New Wave/Post Punk scene of the time.

All credit to the genius that is Robert Fripp.

We're not worthy!!!

That's Abbath from Immortal. I'm not sure if you'd like anything by them, but I suggest listening to At The Heart Of Winter from beginning until the end and see how you like it. One of my absolute favourites in my diverse collection.

My wrong album would be Raindance by Gryphon.

Much as I love RQ2G3 I have always preferred its follow up..precisely because it has a lot of quirky short pieces. I am quite fond of Treason too.

Thanks, pal.

I thought he looked like a member of Scandinavian death/black (can I say black? is it politically correct enough?).

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the Scandinavian bands, except Entombed.

Thanks, anyway.

PS: You should check out the new Slayer album when it's out in June. They are the business!

No, you definitely can not say 'Black Metal'. 'Afroamerican Metal' is the right way!

Entombed are/were Death Metal, whereas their newer stuff is death'n'roll and really cheesy. Black Metal is a completely different sound, so I suppose for a person unfamiliar with the genre, At The Heart Of Winter would be an excellent introduction.

Seriously, get At The Heart Of Winter now! It is the epitome of coldness through music! And it is 10 times more progressive and technical than anything they'd released.

(oh, and yeah, I should have added that Immortal are indeed a BM group, but ATHOW is in no way a normal BM album)

I've always loved "Three sides live" by Genesis but over the years I've realized that a lot of folks think it's terrible.  I wasn't bowled over by the original US version with the b-side studio cuts but the UK version with more live songs knocks me out.  And the "In the Cage" medley is so powerful that I consider it one of their best performances EVER.  But I seem to be in a minority when it comes to that album.
